Last month I watched every episode of this over three nights. Been meaning to watch it for years and I'm sorry I delayed it for so long because it's unique, compelling and provocative. I was conflicted in so many ways whilst watching it, the brutal violence towards some of the female characters was particularly hard to take, but the final episode gave the story profound meaning. That final episode was indeed special and very controversial, as was Fassbinder himself. Try reading the book it’s (BA) based on. It was a landmark work of fiction, and easier to read than one might think.
