That's okay for rentals and downloads, but definitely unacceptable for a home collection.

Generally I only care about bonus features on films that are over 20 years old. Before then there is little weight and perspective to say much anything worth while. When a film first comes to home video the bonus material is all PR spin still trying to sell the product.

Of course, there are exceptions; Lord of the Rings, Titus Andronicus, Gosford Park are notable ones I can think of right now.

With BD (and DVD for that matter) the quality of the audio and visual transfer is always the main primary selling point for me. Most bonus on new discs go unwtched by me.

YES. Give me a top quality transfer of the film on BD. That's all I want. Anything else is a bonus and not a required or even wanted feature. Unless there is something significant to say, I say trim the fat.

If I hear one more "designing (x) was so difficult. We researched hundredds of books and worked endless hours to get the look just right" one more time, I'm going to kick in the TV. No one cares! Especially when every film with a commentaty or making of feature says the same thing. The repitition cheapens what is being said. Bonus features should only be used on films where there is a lot of interesting back story on how the film got made or its historical significance.
