They need to do EYES WIDE SHUT also. I wanted to watch that one this past weekend, so I put in my HD DVD. It no longer worked. I put in a second copy I got later on in an eBay lot - it also no longer worked. ****ing Warners
Yea, my HD-DVD is still chugging along (Full Metal Jacket as well), but I expect it to succumb to rot eventually. 4K's of Kubrick's entire library would make me a happy man indeed!

Not a fan of this steelbook. I prefer the standard cover much more. Unfortunately I don't care for the movie in general though nor any Kubrick movie.

I love the steelbook! It's unique and would look beautiful if glossy. Instant pre-order!

Even though I'm not a steelbook collector, I like the Steelbook better simply for the color scheme and font for matching the original one-sheet, in spirit anyway. Preordered.

The yellow is all wrong. Should have been mostly white (snow) and the letters that form the maze should have been green with tiny patches of off-white on the letters to stand for the hedges of the maze. The Shining logo should have been red.

Does Best-Buy package their steels well? I want to order this, and Mothra, but I'm worried about them getting damaged in the mail.

If it is damaged are they good about returns assuming the shrink wrap is intact?

i like the steel. could be better. like it more than the standard cover. like a couple others i find that one generic. that one would be better if it was w/o that silhouette & had it with the animation spread out along with Nicholson holding the axe not in a silhouette.

They package steelbooks in those tight-fitting cardboard mailers.

If there is damage my local store has always been good about letting me exchange it for another copy.

On the bright side, the cover art is finally different from the majority of past home media releases (Jack's face in the chopped up door).

The original poster art was completely yellow.

I like the standard art better, but I’ll probably still get the steelbook.

This will happen in every thread ever created. Nothing on the planet is universally liked or disliked.
I don't know why stuff like this is always posted when someone dares makes a meta comment on the vibe of a thread's reaction to artwork.

Your comment goes without saying.

You're one of the few consistently helpful and insightful posters on this side of the forum but if a single line innocuous reaction of surprise to reactions of art isn't allowed these threads become even more useless and void of discussion than they already are.

Let's be honest, THE SHINING deserves about 3 steelbook variations to choose from.

I’d be game for a hard news forum. Only release news devoid of opinion.
Would save me a good amount of scan time.
That way I could get new as it breaks and not have to delve into the “this is my favorite color” waters.

So, the movie itself is remastered in 4K, brand spanking new, potentially redefining experience, but the thing that might make you consider buying is... the cover art?
