That's not the way it works. You can't get the original SDR grading by turning off HDR on the player...

But I'm sure this post was just another attempt to mock me...

Great job!

Trouble is, it doesn't really matter who distributes MGM's stuff now or in the future because it's they who still call the shots, and it's they who don't give a toss about physical media at this point in time which is why they're happy to licence everything but the crowniest of crown jewels to all and sundry. Bond on UHD is the exception to the rule but I reckon that EON/Danjaq/whoever have more control over it than we might think so they're basically overriding MGM's stubborn resistance. Even if they don't, MGM know that they'll need another hook to sell some more Bond on home video and UHD is it.

BTW, as for the 4K rebuild thing we don't even know if Sony did it, AFAIK their participation with the actual video mastering of these things ran out with Casino Royale and every movie since then has been released via Fox on Blu-ray, as well as CR itself because the Sony versions are now OOP. But seeing as even the 2K-finished Die Another Day got a 4K DCP under MGM's watch then it's a very good bet that they've done up the 2K Craigs as well, though official information on 4K DCPs for CR and QoS are harder to come by.

It was a legitimate question. If you want to be a dink about it, then so be it.

My bad, anyway what you are suggesting doesn't actually work. Every player does a different HDR->SDR conversion.

So they’ll just add a hdr pass to it!? Is the redone scan any good? Haven’t seen it.

Forcing you? You spend an awful lot of time and energy constantly whining.

Talking about not buying it does not just break up the monotony of musings from those who collect cardboard, it quite literally has more use in terms of discourse, worth, and interest. By far!

The blu-ray of this is still an absolute looker. Can't imagine how terrific the 4k transfer had to be!

I'm sorry you can't afford the equipment capable of highlighting the differences between a 2k and 4k di. For the rest of us, we'll kick back with a beer or two and enjoy our native 4k transfers.
