Hopefully it doesn't have any DNR, if the IMAX enhanced stream of Venom is anything to go by, it could.

Yes, the IMAX masters are always based around projecting on HUGE screens and there's always the possibility of greater amounts of DNR and Edge Enhancement (if they are blowing up lower resolution source material).

IMAX Enhanced is just a way for DTS (Xperi) and IMAX to stay relevant and the home consumer suffers the consequences.

One thing I worry about is that they'll alter the scope ratio besides over tinker with the picture... not to mention not having a Dolby Atmos track.

Is there a 2.39 UHD non IMAX version? The constant change of AR is distracting and ruins the movie. Another commercial gimmick to justify higher prices by making it worse!

The question now is whether the IMAX master used is riddled with EE and excessive DNR.

We already know the DTS: X track is just 7.1.4. The last DTS: X IMAX track, Angry Birds 2, was actually pretty anemic.

Which is too bad since the Vudu Dolby Atmos streaming sound mix version of Angry Birds 2 has sound effects cues and music bouncing around everywhere

I wonder if Sony is distributing the movie in 4k worldwide, or if some regions are handled by another studio (a long shot). If so, it would be a possibility that it receives an Atmos track elsewhere.

Sony owns the movie 100% and will most likely be using the same master the US discs do.

Sony has released films overseas with Auro3D instead of Atmos.

So there is precedent that they might do Atmos in another region.

Would they do so if it's still under the IMAX Enhanced umbrella, though? IMAX has partnered with Xperi/DTS and not Dolby.

I'm worried there is a contractual obligation with IMAX unless Sony was to not release the IMAX version in some areas.

Well no, then it wouldn't be "IMAX Enhanced".

There is a Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos master - currently streaming.
