Yeah it definitely was part of the New Hollywood movement, which was heavily influenced by European arthouse films of the 1960s. They not only abandoned the traditional function of narrative in the Hollywood system, but they also dealt with much more mature themes that were far more taboo in Old Hollywood. Adultery, racism, drug use, interracial relationships, etc. I'd add films like The Graduate, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? and In the Heat of the Night to that list as well. They really ushered in the Hollywood Renaissance.

They drew away from narrative logic in favor of the ambiguity found in European arthouse films. Characters no longer drove the narrative in the way they did in old Hollywood movies.

Easy Rider is as "new Hollywood" as they come.

I guess if Digital Bits is correct I’ll be importing

From Digital Bits

In announcement news today, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has revealed that Easy Rider is now available in Digital 4K with HDR on various streaming platforms in honor of the film’s 50th anniversary. There appear to be no plans to release it on physical 4K.

Wow this one truly takes the cake. Each post of yours is a gift, but this one is something special.

You're the gift that keeps on giving.

But Bill Hunt has sources, Ross. Sources so high up in the industry you'd be shocked to hear their names. I've already said too much....

I agree with the person you disagree with.

The film is similar to European art house which had already been around for about a decade, so it wasn't revolutionary. It seemed fairly boring compared to these and generally speaking.

It isn't terrible, but seems drastically overrated. The IMDB score of 7.3 seems to agree with us. The "critics" that love it were wrong.

of course you do. I've seen your posts on here as well.

"nothing happened in the movie" and "just a couple over the hill bikers" ROFL. Peter Fonda was 29, Dennis Hopper was 32 and this film was representative of the counter-culture movement in America during the late 60s and does an excellent job of depicting those lifestyles and times.

You don't get it. That's fine.

Lol the guy comes in here asking why Easy Rider is such a critically acclaimed movie, people explain why and he continues to reiterate his dislike for it. He’s obviously trolling.

You actually wouldn't, but it makes you sound so anti-establishment on the anonymous Internet.

He is. Does it in a lot of threads. He's fun to mess with though, because he gets butthurt fast.

Your opinions on films are generally bonkers. Maybe try not to offend fans by thread crapping.

Oh, and never change.
