Does the rerelease that is coming up have all the special features that the Limited Edition had? I want the film on blu-ray for sure, but those two documentaries sound awesome and it would be a shame for them not to be on a rerelease.

Thank you in advance.

Yes it does, it's still a 2 disc set:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Spookies-Blu-ray/260077/

The only difference is that it doesn't come with a slipcover.

It's already available on the Vinegar Syndrome webstore.

True but it's $27.99 plus shipping vs $21.15 (free shipping for Prime) on Amazon.
I do try to buy direct from all the indie labels as much as I can, but I do realize everyone has a different budget and sometimes you have to go with the cheapest price.

Picked this up the other day at a local record shop. I have watched the film and the making of doc with no problems, but when I watch the VIPCO doc, the doc will freeze for a second or two every few minutes. It is really annoying.

cap 1 and cap 2

I might be wrong but I find it hard to believe the heavy blue tint in both instances was not a creative choice. Was this common practice to tinker with video masters to such a degree back then? Or could the VS restoration be missing filters? It's not the first BR restoration I've seen that does this (I usually see this in select scenes of low-budget genre pictures), so I'm genuinely curious.

Same for me. I nearly turned it off at one point. It's a decent documentary as well.

I'm guessing it must've been a production fault somewhere along the line because the film and the making of documentary were flawless.

I tried hard to like this movie - it just didn't do anything for me. I've always had a low tolerance for ineptitude in films and this is as inept as they come lol. I've read about the patchwork nature of the production and that definitely shows here. The characters were annoying as well so that was the final nail in the coffin. It's funny because I thought I had rented this film back in the day and remembered enjoying it. Maybe I'm confusing it with another film (The Supernaturals?)

It's really a shame what happened to Spookies; I think if the original creative team had been able to make the movie they wanted to, we would have gotten the ultimate 80s party horror movie and perhaps seen the launch of several bright careers.

But despite the compromised nature of the finished product, I still think there's enough fun there to drag it over the finish line. It's a nice warm-up for something like Night of the Demons (which this very well could have exceeded.)

VS's Blu-ray is an absolute thing of beauty, and the making-of documentary was a great watch...need to get around to the VIPCO one.

Watched this on SHUDDER last night, awful, but entertaining in a watch party/making fun of it sort of way. The backstory of the production is way more interesting. Although I appreciate a film like this getting "rescued" it by all rights should be in the $1 bin, but instead gets a almost $30 boutique release. But that's the future of physical media.

EDIT: the version on SHUDDER appears to be from VS since the logo is at the end.

Not surprising, each season of Joe Bob has had a VS print. From Madman to Demon Wind to Blood Harvest to Spookies....i could be wrong, but I seem to recall one movie on TLDI and it served as a soft announcement/reveal for the movie being with Vinegar Syndrome.

Finally watched this on Blu-Ray last night, the plot was nothing new for the time but the creature effects were really cool.

I watched it on Last Drive In and loved it, very cheesy but it just appealed to me. I'm annoyed because couple days ago I barely missed somebody selling their VS collection with slips and they had Spookies for $35 shipped but it was already spoken for by the time I saw it

I bought my VS copy with slip for about $40 something which wasn't bad. This is one of my personal favorites. Just have such nostalgia for this movie. And when I watched the VS release I was shocked how good it looks. I mean VS must do an outstanding job. This looked better picture quality than many big studio releases. Such clarity.
