Start with the Picture Quality Tiers list for ultimate video quality:

Way too many to list as previously stated. I agree with all the above recommendations though, and will add the Podrace scene from The Phantom Menace, and the High Roller scene from Sucker Punch.

Hi guys, I have an LG 47GA6450 3D HDTV, a Panasonic 220 series 3D Blu-Ray player, and a Sony CT-100 Soundbar/Subwoofer that to my knowledge doesn't support 3D pass through. Right now, I am running the Blu-Ray player into the TV and doing Optical out to my soundbar, which does have optical in, but that only gives 5.1. Is there a way I can get DTS-HD MA and the other high-end audio codecs without buying an entirely new soundbar/receiver? I've heard some players might have dual HDMI but I don't even know if that would help.
Thanks! |

As I said, I know it doesn't support those codecs, what I want is to eliminate Optical from the equation and go back to HDMI for everything, to get the advanced codecs. Also, like I said, my Soundbar doesn't support 3D passthrough, so although I could connect it to get the advanced codecs, I won't have a picture that is 3D. The soundbar has a bunch of HDMI ins and 1 out, but it doesn't help me if I can't get 3D. Is it more clear now? Sorry if I wasn't more specific.

I don't see how. Without a dual output player or compatible receiver, to get 3D you'd have to run straight from the player to the TV. Since the TV can't decode the HD audio I don't think you'd get it at the soundbar end even if you did run an HDMI from the TV to the soundbar. I don't think TVs will bitstream it directly but I could be wrong.

Yeah that is what I'm asking, can a dual HDMI player do this for me? I have no experience with them so I'm seeking advice on solutions. Will a dual HDMI solve the issue? Can I do one HDMI to the TV, one to my Soundbar and get the HD codecs that way?

As far as I know, yes. I know players like the OPPO can do this..for example running a cable from HDMI1 to the TV for video, and from HDMI2 to older receiver that doesn't have 3D capabilities. I can't speak for every player but I know Panasonic has some dual output players that should do the same thing.
