I love the sound of rain but I don't get a tingling sensation.

I find whispering not only very distracting but also gross. It makes me feel uncomfortable. Same when people are eating noise. It's disgusting.

I'm not a ASMR person I guess.

For me, it's in the Broadway Musical of NEWSIES, during the song ONCE AND FOR ALL. There is a powerful build-up in instruments and vocals, getting stronger and louder until the powerful crescendo when the key changes, all the lights are brought up, and the Newsies are all in unison and singing Bold and Strong. The movable set piece they are all on is now moving towards the edge of the stage, bringing the cast upfront and center and when it all comes together, I get chills running up my spine, my throat swells and my eyes begin to water because that single moment is just SO FREAKING POWERFUL!!!! It is PURE MAGICAL!!!!!

So i just youtubed ASMR and found that a lot of the content on there is pretty sexual in nature. Scantily clad women licking their microphones and so on.

The oddest part about it is the comment section who seem to be unaware of the sexual component entirely and say things like 'this helps me sleep' and 'this calms me'.

I'm going to go and have a jolly good lie down.

I had no idea what the h*ll ASMR was until I Googled it and now I'm thinking I might be experiencing something like this whenever I see someone jump from a height and land in a movie I immediately get a very unpleasant sympathetic tingling, lightning-bolt twinge from my feet up through my legs. I HATE it but it never fails to happen...

Or am I misunderstanding this ASMR thing?
