I hope Sonic The Hedgehog's Native 4K and HDR10 will have a very nice color and fidelity.
Not to mention, it's Paramount instead of WB. and paramount did a great its a wonderful life 4k and other great releases. I wouldn't say they're going to make sonic have a bad 4k being the hit it is, but we'll see.

I saw this yesterday with my dad and enjoyed the hell out of it! Much better than Detective Pikachu!

A majority of scenes were very grainy and there were some scenes that were so soft focused, and displayed horrible color fringing and vignette. They should have just filmed it digitally... i get they were they going for a noir feel, but still...

The movie itself was alright.

I was pleasantly surprised (even after hearing many other people say the same thing so my expectations were a tad high ha). My wife and 7 year-old daughter who knew nothing about Sonic going in really enjoyed it as well!

I've noticed that other Paramount movies like Terminator Dark Fate and Bumblebee are upscaled 2k films. I know bluray.com says "native 4k" at the moment but is there a chance that could change down the line?

IMDB has sonic listed as 4k DI in the technical specs. Not sure where they are getting their info from.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3794354/technical

bumblebee shows 2k DI: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4701182...ef_=tt_dt_spec

T-DF shows 2k DI: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6450804...ef_=tt_dt_spec

i guess chances are good that this info is accurate. It's worth nothing that both Ad Astra and First Man are shown as native 4K on blu-ray.com but is listed as only 2K DI on imdb.com

Loved the movie. My favorite games movie of all time. Low bar, still. As a comparison, I didn't like Detective Pikachu at all.

According to the dcp file we have at the cinema, Sonic is in 2K.

I thought Detective Pikichu was kinda dumb, but that praise for Sonic has me excited to hear since I'm seeing it tomorrow

I skipped this in theaters, will unfortunately will wait till 4K release. Just cause it's 2K doesn't mean it won't look amazing.

We can literally Source a ton of movies with 2K DIs, Like the Transformers films and they look great on UHD to name some.

There is more additional info on this 4K bluray, it said Sonic The Hedgehog got Dolby Vision.

Now I don't mind if it's native 4K or 2K anymore. I want deep color.

Eh, Dolby Vision is just there to make the content look like it should.

Okay, I'm glad it's Dolby Vision rather than HDR10.

2K DCP doesn't necessarily mean 2K DI.
The Force Awakens didn't get a regular 4K DCP because they were rushing it, despite the fact that the movie was native 4K (in fact, all of the Disney Star Wars films are native 4K, even Solo).
The only DCPs that exist for it are a 2K DCP and an IMAX 4K DCP.

Does anyone think this will end up getting released early? Crossing my fingers.
