Full 4K quality. Many argue is a better restoration than Lowry’s.

There are still moments in 4K77 and 4K83 where I see a cue mark in the top right corners.

I haven’t watched them in full. I also have the D+77 version.

Detail is not better. But it's clearly better to watch those versions until something better comes along

Meh. The Lowry's are sharpened so they've got a lot more superficial 'pop' but the actual 4K version of 4K77 does have MORE fine detail than the 1080p Blu in some areas.

I would suggest the '4K77 1.4' downscaled to 1080p version.

It's everything I ever wanted the 1977 STAR WARS to be; my "home video holy grail". v1.4 is just about perfect, with only a few minor complaints: I still have to slightly desaturate my projector for the Mos Eisley cantina, or there are some wildly orange skin tones in there... and some of the spaceships in the ending battle are a bit more blue than I remember them being -- but I ain't complainin' cuz I love those original effects so much. It's just so freakin' good. All hail the Rebels who got this transmission out.
I could only find the 1080p version of 1.4; is there much of an improvement with the 4K version?

4K77 1.4 absolutely destroys the 2011 BD. No comparison in any manner (unless you hate film grain).

You can't judge "grain" based off of a release print.

Oh I think most of us here are fine with film grain which concerns me since Disney has a habit of scrubbing it off of their 4K releases. Thats why I have to read reviews before blindly buying these.

I only own the 4K non-DNR version... but ironically have only watched it via my 1080p projector. So I can attest that it does indeed look great in 1080p, but my only experience is from the 4K file.

I didn't say *I* could.

Do you know how much grain is added to a theatrical print...

4K77 is just an amazing achievement it’s such a joy to watch Star Wars with full glorious grain, it looks so filmic, I love it. I cannot believe even if there was an official release that it would have a more pleasing image as it would undoubtedly be grain managed or have wonky colours or some other incompetence invoked.

I just noticed something on the Disney+ version of ANH. Beru tells Luke "Tell your Uncle if he gets a translator, be sure it speaks Bocce." In every version I know, she says "Tell Uncle," not "Tell YOUR Uncle."
