That's my main issue with Disco is that there should not be any one character who is the main focus. Cant even think of a lot of the other bridge officers names, besides Detmer.

Yep, biggest issue with the show. The crew may as well be cardboard cut outs.

wow, it's like i'm watching a totally different show than most of the people here. so much anger and hatred towards Discovery and so much of her crew. and i'm not knocking peoples opinion either, i'm just wondering how the show i love so much, is so hated.

be that as it may, i'm waiting as patiently as possible for Strange New Worlds! it looks like it's gonna be a blast.

If I never saw Tilly again I would not mind. She is one of the worst actresses I've ever seen on TV.

Right? I've really liked the series so far, and it wasn't my introduction to Trek (I'd seen all films and series prior), so I like to think I "know" the "true" Trek, but hey.

The Cage has always been my favorite Original Series episode, it has such a lovely "Forbidden Planet" vibe. I have always longed for Trek to veer in to 50's style scifi.. Can't wait to view and then purchase this series. I certainly hope they go with the truly Strange...I want rivers and oceans of mercury, Blue suns, jet black trees with neon pink leaves, I want "Planet of The Vampires" style fluid atmospheres, Miniature models, painted backdrops, Logan's Run Style Utopias, planets lit by suns being eaten by black holes, and things I can't even think of

I’m not one to encourage the taking of illegal substances but, on the basis that the episodes may not be what you’re hoping for, perhaps something before each episode might help achieve your desired outcome.

Yes. The end of S2 of Discovery (wherein Pike, Spock and Number One rejoin the Enterprise) takes place in 2258, while Where No Man Has Gone Before (ST TOS S1 E1) is set in 2265 shortly after Pike is promoted to Fleet Captain and Kirk is given assignment to Captain the Enterprise. So there's a 6-7 year period to work with for this series. The Menagarie takes place in 2267.
