I don’t see The Wire happening any time soon. It’s one of the best shows ever made (Monty Python and South Park have it beat imo) but it’s still functionally a cult series compared to Sopranos and GOT. HBO goes after what will make them money.

There's a lot of reaching going on here. The only non-miniseries that even has a shot of getting a 4K disc release based on BD sales is The Sopranos. Deadwood is a maybe because it has under 40 episodes and was popular enough to get them to spend $20 million on a TV movie.
Anything else will be exclusively on HBO Max whenever they get their ish together and upgrade the app to 4K. ![]() |

Treme in 4K would be nice. (I know it will never happen.)

Where are all the people who were so certain this would never release?

Would have been real nice for them to have done this back in Feb. so I could have seen 2-7 on UHD as well. But yeah, I'm not going to replace all those BDs, especially since I'm not sure I will watch the series again.

I gotta say, if it is UHD only then that's fine by me. For a single movie then I feel a bit shortchanged if there's no BD, but I'm not going to compare dozens and dozens of episodes of television, and if it keeps the price down then that's a bonus with a set of this size. |

On the subject of extras, and I know it's not gonna happen. But I would love it if the Histories and Lore animations be upgraded as well. I think they would look really nice in HDR.

I was so blown away by the last season on 4K disc, I definitely will upgrade. Between what I can get for the existing Blu sets I have, and selling the digital code, if that turns out to be the final price, it will come decently close to paying for itself. |

That much would have been a no-go for them due to stores not wanting to lose that much if one goes missing. The max retail stores seem to be willing to take on is $250 (GoT Giftset, DCU 10th Anniversary, Star Wars 4K Saga).

When this hits around $110-$120 either here or in the UK is when I'll buy. I sat on the Sopranos long enough for Blu-ray, I can do it for it for GOT. Though if it were the former, I'd probably get it a lot quicker than this.
Now unrelated from HBO but if Mr. Robot were to get a UHD release... ![]() |
