Moss being some of the best and most realistic objects in a game thanks to the stereo 3D of PSVR for up close objects and Quill the mouse.

The sharpness is perfect for up close objects, it's just further back that the resolution suffers and the jagged edges appear if the game is not optimized with higher resolution. Xing being a prime example on regular PS4, though Dartfrog said it looks much better on PS4 pro PSVR and I believe it.
If I get a good chance, I'll hook up all the mess of wires from the PSVR to detach from my PS4 to my PS5.
Even Xing looks good to me. I’m not seeing a great deal of jaggies to be fair.

Rumor: a new patent uncovered by LetsGoDigital indicates that a new PSVR headset for PlayStation 5 is in development

This one seems to feature haptic feedback, LED lighting and sensors that recognize if the headset is properly worn + more

Brain Damage feature confirmed

I feel like they will probably offer an option to turn haptic feedback off on the headset but it's genuinely got to be a unique way to separate PSVR 2 from competitors because just being hit around the head with something and feeling that sensation would be quite something.

Default Introducing the next generation of VR on PlayStation

Quote:
More than four years ago, we launched PlayStation VR to offer a transformative new way to play games on PS4, providing a much stronger sense of presence and deeper immersion to players compared with traditional games. In that time, we’ve seen tremendous experiences that have propelled virtual reality gaming forward, including highly acclaimed titles like Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, Tetris Effect, Blood & Truth, Moss, Beat Saber, and Resident Evil 7 biohazard. We’ve also enhanced the experience for some PS VR titles when played on PS4 Pro and PlayStation 5.

Today I’m pleased to share that our next-generation VR system will be coming to PlayStation 5, enabling the ultimate entertainment experience with dramatic leaps in performance and interactivity. Players will feel an even greater sense of presence and become even more immersed in their game worlds once they put on the new headset.

We’re continuing to innovate with our new VR system so that our fans can continue to enjoy the unique experiences that are synonymous with PlayStation. We’re taking what we’ve learned since launching PS VR on PS4 to develop a next-gen VR system that enhances everything from resolution and field of view to tracking and input. It will connect to PS5 with a single cord to simplify setup and improve ease-of-use, while enabling a high-fidelity visual experience.

One of the innovations we’re excited about is our new VR controller, which will incorporate some of the key features found in the DualSense wireless controller, along with a focus on great ergonomics. That’s just one of the examples of future-proof technology we’re developing to match our vision for a whole new generation of VR games and experiences.

There’s still a lot of development underway for our new VR system, so it won’t be launching in 2021. But we wanted to provide this early update to our fans, as the development community has started to work on creating new worlds for you to explore in virtual reality.

We also want to thank all of our PS VR players for your continued support — with upcoming games like After The Fall, Sniper Elite VR, and Humanity, there’s much more to come for PS VR whether you’re playing on PS4 or PS5. With both PlayStation VR and the next-generation VR system we’re building, our commitment to virtual reality as a medium for games is stronger than ever. We look forward to sharing more details in the future!

There is only one thing that could have made this sweeter. If it included "and we've signed an exclusive deal with Valve to release Half-Life: Alyx at the system's launch."

Regardless, this is promising news. And I've yet to make the step to VR.

I read about the Horizon VR rumor last week. I bet this will be their big launch title.

No, the only thing that could have made this sweeter is if they ACTUALLY showed the damn thing. These "hey we are announcing that there's going to be a future announcement" annoy the hell out of me!

Gran Turismo 7 pushed to 2022. DAMN!

Recent Jim Ryan interview with GQ...

Quote:
So one game you didn’t mention there that had been dated for 2021 is Gran Turismo 7. What’s going on with that one?

At this point a PR representative for Sony jumped into the call promising a statement on GT7 – probably in the hope that we’d actually ask about some of the many new announcements. You can read that statement below...

“GT7 has been impacted by Covid-related production challenges and therefore will shift from 2021 to 2022. With the ongoing pandemic, it’s a dynamic and changing situation and some critical aspects of game production have been slowed over the past several months. We’ll share more specifics on GT7’s release date when available.”

Odd announcement.

1. Everyone new a PSVR2 was coming but was a ways off, so this didn’t tell us anything new on that front.

2. No details provided at all. Would seem better to announce when they could at least show the new controller or something.

In any case, moot for me as I’ve just not enjoyed VR for reasons I’ve posted before and won’t bore people with again. Better tech isn’t going to change those reasons for me so will most likely be a pass for me unless it gets an overwhelming library of exclusives that are must plays for me to shell out and try to deal with my issues again.

If Horizon has any kind of VR element to it, I'm all over it. Seeing the machines in 3D and life size would be awesome (Seeing Aloy would be pretty amazing too).

I guess, eventually, we'll need a PSVR 2 thread in the PS5 section.

There were negative articles appearing claiming Sony were done with VR. This sets the record straight!

Delighted, can’t freaking wait!

So? Let them speculate. I don't understand the point of a press release like this. "Hey, we have nothing to show right now but we just want you to know that we'll have something to show in the future." I've just never understood this strategy at all. And Sony isn't the only one guilty of this. Nintendo did this just the other day during their Direct with Zelda BOTW 2. Why not just wait until you're ready to unveil it? What benefit does this have for Sony, or us for that matter?

It's good Sony finally confirmed PSVR2 today rather than just hearing rumors about it.

I got PSVR for 199.99 new in December 2017 on sale. That sale is what made me finally jump in to VR but also because it was getting a blu ray 3D update to watch in the VR set as a back up for 3DTV and 3D Projectors. I'll say this new PSVR2 will be priced at 399.99 or higher, which is more than I'm willing to jump in at. I'd have to wait for a sale, 199.99. Even if it's got some great starting games, VR has a few things that are a challenge for me, though I still think VR has a ton of potential and can be very cool with games like Moss and Astrobot.

PSVR's shining games are Moss and Astrobot VR. Other games have potential, including RE7, Hitman 3(with 2 and 1), Dreams and other VR focused games, provided the gamer can overcome the one challenge of virtual reality; dizziness and nausea. That's something I've yet to get past at the moment, 4 years later for certain games. Riggs and Skyrim: I finally got used to Skyrim but Riggs makes me feel ill playing it because jumping, floating, then landing suddenly is what does it.

Moss and Astrobot, I'm 100% fine with.

As far as improvements for PSVR2 which I'll predict for 2022 or 2023, I'll say the resolution will need to eliminate any pixelation and jagged edges anywhere in the PSVR with higher resolution for games as the number one goal.

2nd required feature will be flawless tracking. PSVR's light bar tracking is flawed and unreliable many times. I'm playing Hitman 3 with the required controller (DS4) and it's clumsy as heck due to poor tracking even though it tracks fine at my camera angle for other games. The new set up will not use light bars, so that's promising.

It will have a small cord attached for power, so that's hopeful as I hear Quest VR only lasts 2 hours or so before it runs out of power.

Then again, the challenge is being submerged with a headset that cuts off the outside world completely for more than 2 hours.

Because they don’t want VR fans thinking that PSVR is the end of the line. Think about it, if someone is on the fence about the PS5 but loves VR, they now have confidence that the next gen console will support next gen VR. It also stops VR fans from switching to Quest 2 (or future versions). It’s telling the VR community that they can bank on Sony giving us a true next gen headset.

It’s absolutely the right thing to do imo.

RE7 is still the best game on PSVR. It fulfilled the potential no question, imo.
