No, it's not weird. If you've seen Christopher Nolan's films you will be familiar with it.

In normal theatres the film will be letterboxed, no change in aspect ratio. Only if you go to an IMAX cinema hall (1.90:1 or 1.43:1) you will get scenes in the expanded aspect ratio. It's basically like how Christopher Nolan does for his films, we also get IMAX 1.78:1 scenes on Blu-ray which is fantastic. I saw TENET in a normal/standard theatre and it was letterboxed the entire time.

Hopefully on Blu-ray (fingers crossed for 3D Blu-ray as well) we can get IMAX 1.78:1 scenes and get the IMAX treatment at home as well.

Most narrative films that play in IMAX theaters are framed for their regular theatrical ratio showings and just play open matte for select VFX sequences in IMAX. To me, it's no big deal to skip the IMAX ratio in theater or on Blu-ray. It's usually not important visual information--just extra fluff.

Hunger Games Catching Fire is a good example. Everything is 2.39 until the competition starts and the matte opens up. First time you see it you typically don't notice it happening.

I could have sworn this was meant to be coming out on 17 September in the UK, but it's now listed as coming on 21 October. Maybe that's been the scheduled release date for some time but the Odeon website was only recently updated.

Surprisingly in the UAE, 'Dune' will be released on September 23 in 3D. Almost one month earlier than the worldwide release.

Also no steelbook/special editions listed yet. Only keep case 4K and 1080p.

I'm worried, because surprisingly "Godzilla vs. Kong" got no 3D disc here in Germany at least...

P.S. I wrote to JPC asking them if there will be a 3D option in the days to come. Let you know the answer!

Can't really expect a 3D Blu-ray listing to pop up right now, especially in the early phases where only 4K and HD pop up... Dune 4K and HD Blu-ray is already available to pre-order on Amazon India since last week. So it will take time to see a 3D listing soon.

I`m so happy we will get this movie in 3D. The 4K+2D+3D steelbook from France is very nice and cheap. Ordered it instantly! A wonderful carefree package + "Le ratio image varie du 2.39 au 1.78 pour les scènes tournées au format IMAX"

Also there is hope for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 3" on 3D disc next year. Absolutely want to complete the trilogy in 3D...

Hoping they really put in IMAX scenes on the 3D Blu-ray. We don't want another Aquaman-like release with IMAX scenes only on 4K and 1080p Blu-ray.
