God of War: Ragnarok coming in 2022

I knew this would be on PS4 but it’s really not a true PS5 gen game if PS4 can run it.

Ah, Sony. I think they said "We believe in Generations". What the full version said was "We believe in generations that sell 100+ million units and are still helping us make loads of money. Of COURSE we're going to gimp PS5 versions with last gen philosophy so we can keep creaming money. Idiots. It's a no brainer. Oh wait, can we cut this a bit?"

As much as i loved the first game and fully intend to game on the PS5 with the best possible performance. It's a scummy thing Sony did and they should be taken to task over it.

No surprise this is delayed till next year. I say take their time and deliver a great game. Good on them supporting the PS4 base for now. Gonna be an amazing game either way. Day one for me.

At this point the entire next gen should have been delayed at leases 12 months. Both Sony and MS have had to delay games and stock shortages and scalping have made it almost impossible to get hold of combined with global component shortages.

If Sony and M$ would quit making PS4’s and Xbox One’s then they would be able to but 100% into making PS5s and Series X’s. Plus they need to make true next gen games and not make downgraded games for last gen and porting them over to PS5 and Series X.

The 2022 release should come as a shock to nobody. 2022 was completely expected.


Being crossgen is disappointing, but again not surprising and makes complete and total sense all things considered. It will still be a fantastic game I'm sure.

Yeah but the quality isn’t going to be the best it could be cause it’s being made for PS4. Sony wants to charge $70 for their games now will they better be pushing the PS5 to the limit with their games. I’ll be honest I wasted money on a PS5 cause like I said we are paying more for less quality. It would be like buying a PS4 game but with PS3 quality.

Crikey, was it ever even confirmed for 2021? As far as I remember it was just a logo. If they're now saying they were originally aiming 2021 but it's been pushed to 2022 then I'm inclined to believe that, personally.

They did say 2021 at first. It’s sad studios can’t make dead lines. There’s no point in them even announcing a games date until the games are done.

It was pretty obvious that we weren’t getting the game this year… calling a studio lazy when the world basically stopped for a whole year is pathetic

It's a "scummy" thing to allow their 100+ million userbase to purchase and enjoy Ragnarok? Look I get you're disappointed but I hardly think "scummy" is even remotely an accurate way to describe the situation.

As for "We believe in generations" well...

Astrobot - PS5 only
Demon's Souls - PS5 only
Destruction All Stars - PS5 only
Returnal - PS5 only
Ratchet and Clank - PS5 only
FF7 Intergrade DLC - PS5 only
FF 16 - will be PS5 only
Forspoken - will be PS5 only
Deathloop - will be PS5 only
Ghostwire Tokyo - will be PS5 only

And I'm sure we will learn about many more at Sony's June event. That's a hell of a lot more next gen only titles than what Xbox has available isn't it? I don't see how you call them out for saying that when clearly they ARE providing next gen only skus. Yes we are still in this transitional phase from last gen to current gen and yes, there IS going to be some overlap while Sony tries to solve a hardware shortage problem and getting back to a "normal" work schedule.

Those are not AAA games like GOW. GOW Is going to suffer on PS5 cause it will be watered down cause it’s going to PS4.

Because based on what I saw the other day, I think the game looks fantastic. Not once while I was watching that trailer did I say "oh man, if ONLY it wasn't coming to PS4."

Games that are released on last gen have always suffered from quality cause they make it with that gen in mind and not the next. Look at GTA V when it was released on PS3/360 Rockstar had to pretty much remake it for it look better so it didn’t have the low quality of the PS3/360 era graphics.

Haven’t seen it so can’t tell. Besides no game is truly next gen as long as it still is being made for the past gen.

I'm sure when they eventually showcase the new GOW any fears of it seeming scaled down on PS5 will be alleviated. If they don't show off 'something' before the end of the year I'd be a little surprised. The Horizon showcase was hardly a tame watered down looking thing considering it started development once Zero Dawn was done, so always had PS4 in mind.

Also is this the first generation where end of old/start of new gen cross-over is a problem for people, as it seems that way. And it's always been a thing. It's usually a couple years before the previous gen is cast aside entirely so PS4 will still be heavily supported through 2022.
