Haha yep, and that's usually my default mode, but unfortunately vehicle repairs and such must be done...in order to pick up new gear.

Just thinking out loud cuz this is a new review and since I have been lusting after GE speakers for a while now, but ya gotta think that these are direct competitors to the new SVS line:

Those look amazing, but I prefer to keep my active subwoofers seperate

Agreed, that's the caveat although the GE way probably leads to much smoother in-room bass response at the cost of having to run an AC plug to the wall for each tower.

I have my bonus due to arrive next week... unfortunately it's spoken for. <sigh>

I dont get bonuses....but I do get to work OT at a rate of time and a half.....so I cleared an extra $800 for this last pay period (2 weeks) after taxes. I may have to work extra hours to get it, but at least it is not taxed as heavily as a bonus would be.

I am not in the market for new speakers, but I have added SVS to my list of candidates when I do.....hearing good things about them.

I really like having different flavor brands for mains and subs, but SVS is making it easier and tempting to go with them for both...

Seriously. I may need an intervention from this forum. It's getting tougher for me to resist hitting that buy button. It's starting to feel like the 2010s again when reading a thread would give me upgraditis!

Nice that you get OT pay. I'm on salary, and while I do work OT every so often (not because I have to, just easy for me to do if I don't watch it), 5 pm hits and damn straight I'm out if I'm not getting paid.

I hear that, but in my old age, I've gotten far better about vetting out large purchases like this before I drop major coin. Not to mention, I'd love to unload some old gear before I did so, my basement is starting to looking like an A/V graveyard.

No kidding, I miss the time on here between 2010-2014. I moved into my new place in June....and it felt like I was moving my original gear (speakers, heavy amps, AVR's and a sub or 2) for the 4-5th time since I bought them. I could just give it all away I guess, but that would surely upset the HT gods and no doubt I would be struck down with a heavy hand.

Since I bought so much last summer, I am not remotely suffering from upgraditis...although I am sure my next big purchase will be a new front soundstage.

Your Rockets are still a damn good speaker for HT. My son has my 850 Sigs now, and every time I hear them after not listening to them for a while, I feel like I want them back lol. I miss the dynamics, yet still clean and effortless natural sound. And the Bigfoot is still one of my favorite sounding centers, captures the lower registers with voices nicely and is never harsh but always smooth yet full and natural sounding.

When I do get a new front soundstage, it will be done more out of curiosity of trying a different speaker brand/aesthetics than the Rockets not living up to expectations. You are correct about them red...they are one hec of an HT speaker and have no issue doing the heavy lifting when needed.

It's cool, I wasn't trying to deter you. I was just reminiscing about the Rockets.

But yeah, you never know what'll happen. After almost 15 years running and up to two months before I replaced them, I was still saying I'd never replace them.

No takers yet on the Evolutions?

I'd still been eyeballing them the last couple of weeks, and now my bonus came in, and we ended up getting a substantial tax return that I was not expecting (was expecting to owe). So I was thisclose to pulling the trigger on the Titans, but I decided not to as I had other gear/tech wants/needs. I'm relieved to officially be off that train.
[Show spoiler]For now...

I assume some of that extra money will be for the 420? Extra money is always good, especially unexpected money. The Titans will always be there....if you feel that itch needing to be scratched later, you can always pull the trigger then. I am sort of in the same boat...getting tons of OT...taking home an extra $800 after taxes every two weeks. That adds up quickly....and it does have me thinking a little......but just a little.

Yeah, the 420. Well, two of them actually since I'm replacing both UHD players in my main setup and the mancave. That's the biggest reason why I was mulling over the 820s since I'm in for 2 units and didn't really want to spend almost $1k on two 820s. And I did already pick up the 420s, installing them this weekend.

But a super-ultra wide monitor (32:9 aspect) I've been eyeballing for a while now just went on sale, too. I have much more need/use for that since I telecommute full time. Of course, it'll be for gaming, too . Not cheap but the discounted sale price is right.

The Evolutions otherwise is just more of a curiosity thing being that it hasn't been 2 years yet since I replaced the Rockets. BUT, chances are with my track record, once I get something in my house, it isn't going back, and I'll end up wanting/having to replace everything else to sonically match. I'm just glad it isn't 2010'ish or they'd probably be on the way to my house.

But it sounds like you might be ready to give them a try? hint, hint

Oh I am far, far away.....I just like looking at them.....I haven't even read the specs. But I work from home 2-3 days a week....investing in a better monitor (actually two) is something I have been thinking about. I use my Series X with the LG TV.....my office HT is just a poor mans 3.1. Once I started gaming with my main set up, I realized I was missing a huge part of the sonic experience when playing. Can't go back now....

He!! yeah, that's how it all started for me in the mancave! Eventually it became a second HT room. Started off as 2-channel music, and now I'm at 5.2.4 with external amps. Took a while to get there though, about a 10-year journey. If I'm not listening to music, then I have a movie playing. Although it has to be something I've already seen before as otherwise I'll get distracted. Today's menu is the Nolan Batman films.
