Hope this leads to a release of King Kong Lives! sometime soon. Getting those 2 will complete my Kong collection |

Oh, Shout!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Every time I think maybe we're through, you reel me back in. Kong '76 still has my favorite disaster set-piece ever: Kong's arrival in NYC. Maybe it's the nostalgia coupled with the awesome Universal ride, but there's just something about that sequence that has never been topped, not even by the spectacle of Jackson's. WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!! ![]() |

I actually just watched King Kong (1933) for the first time the past week. I don't know how I missed it all of these years.
I was pretty blown away. I know I'm not saying anything no one else hasn't said but it was an absolute technical marvel and holds up. Kong is scary and fascinating to watch. I knew about the 76 movie but haven't seen seen it. After watching the 33 version, I'm in and I think I might have to go on a Kong viewing trip now. |

That said, I did grow up on the extended TV cut and will likely pick up for curiosity's sake. |

He's back again
And about time too Fingers crossed for a new restoration. The old SC master is okay but unremarkable, and it's over a decade old at this point. Curious what they're gonna use for the TV version. Also, pretty funny that Paramount started their own in-house line of boutique catalog releases and they still tossed this one to Shout! Factory. They must really not want anything to do with it lmao |

Either way, I'm not surprised at all. Also, maybe Paramount didn't want to shell out for a 4K restoration that seems to be obligatory for their Presents line. Anyway, fans should be happy either way, especially considering Paramount probably would not have included the extended TV cut ![]() |

Just looked up The Tenant; looks pretty nice. Ultimately, since I haven't gone 4K yet, whether it's a 2K or 4K remaster makes no practical difference to me, though this seems like an obvious candidate for a UHD release down the line. If it's a new transfer, it ought to look good.

Anyone ask or know if anyone's asked Shout! if they're using the World Trade Center cover as reverse art?
I'd hate for that horrid replacement cover for the DVD to take its place, but I know it might not be up to them to use it. Just wondering. |
