Warners was owned by the Kinney Company, a parking lot and contract cleaning company while in the early 70s the Mafia had money in Paramount, buying in when the massive cost over-runs on Darling Lili caused a Cleopatra level crisis at the company, a fiasco that was cited, IIRC, by Mario Puzo as one of the inspirations for Godfather III. My copy arrived yesterday and I've just watched it. Still a really fun film! I remember going to see it in theaters and enjoying it on DVD as well, so I was very happy to see it finally get a BD release. Nice to have all the DVD special features ported over, too!

I couldn't care less about this 2004 remake.
All I want is the 1975 original, superior version, which is the only version to ever see. I'm willing to pay for it, substantially. It is a travesty that a greedy, one-shot pharmaceutical company is holding this film. I'm not shocked at *any* pharmaceutical company's greed, but here they have very little to gain by not releasing the original film. They just won't make millions on it. They'll make thousands, tens-of-thousands instead. I'm in really pissed-off territory now, and we'll probably never get the original version remastered in 1080p, since media is a dying breed now. |

After doing some digging through the stills and tv spots, I was able to find a few images from the original cut of the film.
The much darker one where the Kidman character moved to Stepford after having a mental breakdown caused by discovering her husband was cheating. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Frederick2000; 03-15-2022 at 10:00 AM. |

![]() ![]() Unfortunately, the draft I found doesn't seem to be the original version either as it includes elements from the reshoots, including the reshot version of the original opening that was then, itself, replaced. I do think the ending at the party was always intended to finish the film, but Frank Oz did mention (pre-reshoots) that they shoot a darker and lighter version of it. Neither of those are here.
