My daughter will turn 8 this November and with work and other obligations I'm typically busy with something or other most days, however Friday nights and Saturday nights I almost always watch 2 films after everyone goes to bed. I honestly dislike watching movies during the day in most cases and I hate being interrupted or distracted and so the weekend nightly routine works well for me. Holidays and or vacation days mean I get one or two extra nights but typically I watch movies on friday/Saturday from about 930pm onward and then watch TV., read, or play video games during the week during that same time frame since I don't stay up as late. Awake hours are almost always spent doing with my wife or kid.

I did that until I got to offspring unit #3. Then #4 made it even harder.

Haha yeah multiples certainly complicate things. Unfortunately due to health reasons on my wife's side stemming from a family history of kidney disease it really isn't safe for us to have any more and so we're happy to have just our one daughter who is healthy. On the plus side late night movies are still a thing for me.

Just in recent months there's been a bit of a collective panic around a number of Universal and Fox titles which appeared to go out of print, or did go out of print, and then were suddenly available again, and then not, and that uncertainty has definitely made FOMO much worse and made it feel much more ridiculous. (And don't get me started on Warner Bros and Fox.)

I mean people were buying Bowfinger for $40-50 on ebay just in the last couple months; now it's everywhere for $10 again.
Yeah I can that point. I try to tell myself it’s not the end of the world if something goes OOP. Definitely don’t always succeed.

I'm probably the worst. I have a couple of thousand that a saw either on DVD or as a kid, but haven't watched the purchased Blu-ray. Then I have my 5 bucks and under category. Those are Blu-rays I usually know little, or nothing about, but are either dollar tree Blu-rays, or on sale from Amazon for under 5 bucks. I've got 5-600 of these. Those are the ones I watch first. I have a friend I sell them to if I don't like them after watching them. So, the total number of Blu-rays that I've watched, kept, and are on a permanent place on my shelf stands at around 40-50. The sad thing is that there are at least another 2,000 or so that I want that I've seen & loved in the past. I'm a strange animal, but there has to be someone similar........right? Lol.

I watch on average 40-50 movies a month yet I still have thousands of discs on Blu-ray and DVD combined that I haven’t spun yet. I’m okay with that because I don’t obsess over having a backlog and I get through a LOT of films each month with around half of those being first time viewings. I didn’t start buying Blu-rays until 2015 and 95% of the DVDs I own have been bought during that same timeframe. Before then I was content with primarily renting my discs from Blockbuster. Now I have my own personal Blockbuster.

Early on I bought hundreds of movies from Fry’s Electronics who would always have awesome sales on catalog titles. I also shopped a ton at used media stores, thrift stores, and pawn shops. Dollar stores as well. Bought thousands of discs that way. The majority of my collection was bought on the cheap. According to the stats on this site my average price paid per Blu-ray is between $4-$5 and for DVD it’s 90 cents - $1. I feel really good about that as disc watching is my main source of entertainment when at home. I don’t play video games anymore and I’m not big on binging series on streaming networks, although I watch several a year and I subscribe to most of the major services.
