I'm confused why so many people talk about others HATING Blade Runner 2049.

Most people I know either found it boring or ok.

Not a single one HATED it or even thought it was below average.

I don't hate it, think it's okay, or think it's boring. I feel it is a completely unnecessary sequel that does not interest me at all, so I won't watch it.

Wouldn't have felt so unnecessary to me if they had just let it be its own thing. An original story in the Blade Runner universe, with no ties to Deckard, Rachael or Gaff. Blade Runner is a lot more than Harrison Ford. He didn't need to return.

Agreed, he was completely superfluous. A more original story would have worked better and possibly attracted a bigger audience.
