Pratt sounds like he's phoning it in to me, although his Mario voice turned out fine in the end, so we'll see.

John Debney Scoring Mark Dindal’s ‘The Garfield Movie’
Quote:
John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, The Jungle Book, Elf, Iron Man 2, Hocus Pocus, Cutthroat Island) is composing the original score for the upcoming animated feature The Garfield Movie. Debney has previously scored Dindal’s last two features, The Emperor’s New Groove and Chicken Little.

Yikes, it looks like Garfield has a yellow mustache instead of a cat's face. That's weird. Why not just use the exact design of the cartoon strips and prior animated series? Not a huge deal but still... Davis is in charge of this or just a consultant? Peanuts by Blue Sky Studios hit that film out of the park with how much it looked like the cartoon and comics but in CGI.

Garfield and Jon look okay and I can get used to it. Chris Pratt's voice is good but for Garfield? I guess I'd have to see it but this is not the voice I'm used to, along with most Garfield fans. Garfield is typically a low-energy older cat who sits around all day. Maybe this is his early years they're showing, but it's not Garfield's typical style.

I don't know, I was expecting something more accurate. The live-action movies seemed closer.

At least I have Garfield & Friends and the animated movie classics of Lorenzo Music's deeper, calm voice Garfield to rewatch.

If this is in 3D, I'll consider it. I don't know though. It seems okay. At least they got the eating a lot of food part right.

Haven’t seen the live action ones for a long time but this looks really good. Cute designs and art style.

I am a huge Garfield fan from all the way back in grade school when I would get the collected comic strips books from school. Garfield's Halloween and Christmas animated specials are also a yearly watch. My cat watched the trailer with me, he seemed to approve. The editing of little Garfield taking one bite of pizza and then all hell breaking loose in the restaraunt actually made me laugh out loud.

Could Pratt even TRY to make his voice sound a little different?

I remember there was short origin story of Garfield on the first book.. captures the tone of Garfield for the new animated movie. Even with the changes to the story on how he met Jon.

It's been happening for a long time now, but with these designs the weird melding of hyper realism and cartooniness is really apparent. Garfield and Odie having extremely detailed irises and fur while maintaining unrealistic cartoon proportions just doesn't look right.

The details and fur make them cuter. Like plush toys. Plus it’s more appealing to the eyes than straightforward 3D models.

OK, the trailer made me smile, so I'm on board for this. It already looks better than the first Bill Murray film, and I never saw the second one.

I did and it was thoroughly mediocre

I don't understand why Bill Murray agreed to do a sequel

Garfield is certainly talented to be able to pull off an uncanny Chris Pratt impression.
