Doesn't the bluray set have it all and also Animatrix in HD or 4K. I forget.

Also I am wondering how much new is in this set.

Besides the color on first, I thought the Atmos was fantastic and overall the trilogy and all extras were amazing on the 4K set.

The DVD and blu-ray "ULTIMATE COLLECTION" sets do indeed include The Animatrix in HD and a ridiculous amount of special features.

It seems the new 4k set does not include The Animatrix, which was a big factor why I didn't want to try to replace the blu-ray set.

I assume the 4k set includes all the same special features (minus The Animatrix). But I'm not sure.

(As much as I want to get the films in 4k, I just can't justify it right now. The blu-rays still look great.)

The 4K set basically only includes the extras from the movie disc in the ultimate collection, and lacks all the content from the bonus disc of the ultimate set. Reloaded and Revolutions also are lacking the trailers featured in the ultimate set. Definitely disappointing, it’s more of a nice release to have for the picture and sound upgrades, but those older releases are still definitive in terms of special features.

Good to know.

Another question: Do the 4k releases still have the dual commentary tracks?

Which is why I kept old discs and made that thin style case bluray box set have 2 discs instead of 1. 4K one side, bluray the other.

But how did you make that work? Isn't there only one disc slot per case?

Well, shit. Now you're tempting me to go ahead and get the 4k discs!

I was lucky enough to find The Animatrix and the supplement package in a pawnshop, so I currently have the existing 4K UHD set, plus this four-disc Blu-ray case that holds The Animatrix and the 3 DVD bonus discs.

I am confused. So the ultimate set has the DVD flipper. Is that the 3rd DVD? I have one more space if I make all the cases 2 disc. Currently Animatrix bluray is not paired with anything. Wish they would have put all content on BD. Wondering if the new set will do that.

Unless the new set surprise uses new disc, it’s likely lacking almost all extras for the original trilogy, as it’s likely the same disc from the current 4K trilogy set but minus the dedicated extras disc for each. It seems likely to just be all 4 movies on 4K and Blu-ray in I suspect one 8 disc case (or two 4 disc cases).

There is a chance the Blu-ray copies could be the older versions from the Ultimate set, as then you’d get the extras in the new box while using less disc, but the movies themselves on those disc don’t look as good as the updated 4K remastered versions, granted if you’re buying a partly 4K set the quality of the Blu-ray copy probably isn’t as important to most.

The only Warner release I know of that actually changed from a DVD bonus disc with an earlier Blu-ray release to a Blu-ray bonus disc is the Blade Runner 30th releases. Sadly they usually keep them DVD for one reason or another. They actually made small tweaks like changing the font used on the disc menu’s for The Lord of the Rings extended extras, but they are still DVD’s with no really noteworthy change apart from that tweak to the font.

What I found in that pawnshop had DVDs 8 (The Roots of The Matrix), 9 (The Burly Man Chronicles), and 10 (The Zion Archives) from the DVD set, which I believe covers everything that's missing from the 4K UHD package. Honestly, I can't imagine being luckier, because I believe the initial Blu-ray offering with this case included a flipper disc for either 8 and 9 or 9 and 10, whereas I have the 1-sided discs. Along with The Animatrix Blu-ray that I also found, that's four discs.

The italian release will have 11 discs: https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B09...PNWYJU7H&psc=1

What is the "Ultimate Collection" with all of that bonus discs? I just have the Vynil edition + the Titans of Cult of the first movie; I pre-ordered the Resurrection steelbook so i just need the 4K of the second and third movies and i'll go with this 4-movies set.

Hmm, not sure how I feel about it. Was hoping 4 separate cases.

Based on those images, it looks like this will be 8 Discs. 4K+Blu-ray for each film. Dropping the bonus discs from the previous 4K Trilogy, and from the Ultimate Matrix Collection Blu-ray set. Would've loved everything in one set. Shame.

I’m on the opposite side of this. If they did four separate cases I’d feel tempted to get them individually instead, and pay more for the slipcovers lol.

It seems there would a 4 steelbook collection, so far it has only been announced in France.

I would have liked it more in green or black, but very nice looking. Was hoping for a steelbook collection as well or at least a restock of the BB ones.
