I've preordered it from Zavvi (they dont have pics up yet). Its a nice looking set and I'm glad I held out on picking up the previous UHD's. The making ghostbusters book inclusion is a nice surprise too

Which is still rather rich IMHO.

I currently have the fnac Afterlife steel pre-ordered, which, as I noticed today, is sold out by now, so I really don't know, if I'll get this anyway, but with English keep cases I might consider going for this set instead. Too little info and will just have to keep watching for now I guess.

Yeah, in very broad strokes this is parallel to The Force Awakens. It has a satisfying ending but could also be used to relaunch the franchise. I.e. the story here does wrap up but they give you a small tease of what a sequel could deal with if they decide to do it. It’s way better than the previous Ghostbusters (2016) too, which tbh I personally didn’t hate like many did but it also wasn’t great imo.

I'm hoping that the set will include all the extras, and more, from the steelbook. I didn't buy it at the time as I already had the individual 4k movies. I've never seen most of the deleted scenes so really hoping for those.

Not having the 2016 movie makes sense to me as it's not a continuation of the original story. I didn't hate it but don't see myself watching it often.

The biggest problem I had with GB 2016 was the very different tone. Take the elevator scene from the original. It's funny but not in your face "isn't this HILARIOUS". You have them talking about how they didn't do much testing, that the packs are unlicensed nuclear accelerators and then Egon has them switch his pack on. Ray and Peter move to the other side of the elevator as if that will keep them safe. Very subtle humor.

If Paul Feig had directed the same scene you would have Ray farting after switching on the pack. Egon then running into the elevator wall trying to get away from the smell, falling down and burning off his hair and most of the top of the elevator by accidentally firing the pack. Then we would cut to them getting off the elevator and it then falling down the shaft as Peter comments about "no more chili for Ray." GB 2016 was full of juvenile humor like that.

Going back to the set itself, it looks like a Karate Kid-style hardbox inside of the "trap" set. Maybe the book is separate. In any case I have custom covers ready to go and may just sell the exterior.

To me it appears each movie will be slipcovered and not Steelbooked, thankfully. i.e. Columbia Classics Volumes 1 & 2, and The Karate Kid Trilogy/3-Film moniker.
Wonder if the first two will have original cinema audio in lossless along with DV. That'd be the main buying point for me, because to me 'OCAL' > Atmos. When Atmos wasn't the original audio mix, of course. Probably all those bonus features from the VERY limited Steelbook being carried over?

They not only are most likely going to put both one and two on 100gb Dolby vision discs but ghostbusters 1 and 2 are getting more deleted scenes next year is going to be a great year for ghostbusters fans.

Wonder if Sony/Columbia will manage to carry over all the deleted scenes which were featured on the Criterion Laserdisc (CAV).
GHOSTBUSTERS: The Video Game would truly belong with this set. Takes place in 1991. RIP Ramis. Haven't seen GHOSTBUSTERS: Afterlife yet.
GHOSTBUSTERS (2016) is a non-entity and didn't need to be made. What should have instead is the old crew, which would work better as a follow-up to 2009 The Video Game, by having GHOSTBUSTERS teams in different major cities around the USA. Different branches or divisions, which is of course similar to the initial draft or treatment of GHOSTBUSTERS where there were tons of other teams.

Has the price since shot up on Zavvi or did you preorder at £150? as it’s only £76 delivered for the US set which will undoubtedly be identical.
