Yeah, I'm not saying they always do. But in some of the cases (like Scream) where it's released as UHD-only, they *do* have a remastered regular Blu-ray, too which means I'd have to buy them separately which is a huge waste of money.

I still kept the HD DVD! Don't even have anything to watch it since I was holding out on a remastered BD or importing a release which had AVC and DTS-MD MA 2.0/5.1/lossless audio or whichever the original cinema audio was. Though I still used to own that HD DVD add-on player for the XBOX 360 when I had one. |

Ah, ok. I hear you on that one. It's not a money thing for me, but rather a space issue. I mean, I have the space, but I prefer to keep my movies all in one or two places. Not spread out all over the house. I recently did a purge for that reason, partly, and it helped. However, I do get what you're saying about the mom and pop store, as well as having movies you know you're going to watch over and over again. Versus movies you may only watch once. The problem with the latter, for me anyway, is that if I only have movies I am going to watch over and over again, I'm going to get bored very quick. I like having a lot more choices than just the ones I know I'll watch. I NEED more choices. As it is now, I spend roughly 10 minutes or so trying to choose what I'm going to watch. And in the end, I am mostly on my phone. Now, these are not just some random boring movies and TV shows I have in my collection. These are some of my favorite, if not my favorite, movies and TV shows. I just can't get behind most of them these days. It's my depression. I have tried and tried unsuccessfully to combat it, but nothing's worked so far. That's why I'm trying to diversify my collection and all. A lot this also falls down to watching WAY MORE content now that my mom's passed. I can watch about 20 movies or more in a week. So, my choices dwindle quickly as you can see. |

UK release had both in one set unlike the US one, but I see your point. Still, there really are so few remastered BDs that have been left out due to Paramount's UHD-only stance for the US that it's not worth agonising over. And for several movies that did get a remastered BD Paramount released them months or even years after the UHD so you couldn't have got them at the time anyway, like with Forrest Gump, Mission Impossible 1 and Tomb Raider. It's just not something that they tend to do a lot of, releasing a remastered BD and UHD at the same time (whether in the same package or separately).

I was tempted to buy dis on iTunes to see the remaster buuuut I'll hold off for the disc. Looks like Paramount are dropping a bunch of random flicks in 4K on streaming that we'll likely see on disc at some point - The Italian Job (2003), The Score, Drillbit Taylor, Imagine That (I mean... really?), Primal Fear, Double Jeopardy, Rango, Truman Show, Witness... |

Well technically we have it on DVD-R, so it's not even a good copy, it's compressed to boot. (we used to (stupidly- thinking we'd upgrade them quicker to BD and then 4k but it's slow going, we're slowly buying used DVDs to replace them but many things are now CRAZY expensive!) get the movie then copy it and donate the original DVD to either the retirement home or the library. But at least we can watch it! ha ha!!

Based on what I am seeing on iTunes 4K Dolby Vision, I am confident we are in for a treat with the physical release. Looks filmic thanks to a decent layer of film grain.
