No, this one REALLY tells the Dutton family story and how the family and it's practices got to be what they are in Yellowstone. The 1883 show was nothing more than the set-up for this part of the Yellowstone Ranch saga, which will inform much of what you've already seen in Yellowstone's first few seasons.

1st season has only 8 episodes. we are already at halfway mark. barely anything happened so far. they are stretching 1 season's storyline into 2 seasons or should I say season and a half (16 instead of 20 episodes). 1923 will never be 1883.......which had 10 episode and each had tons of writing which made it a great stand alone series on its own. |

Seeing
[Show spoiler] was a really nice surprise, but was saddened he was on screen for such a limited time as I'd have loved to see more of his character.Next episode: February 12, 2023 (at least it's not a month later or something, thank god) This is honestly a fantastic spin-off series, just a bit annoyed it sometimes takes so long to get a new episode. |

I have watch it Yellowstone Season 1-4 and then 1883. In Season 4 of Yellowstone you have the first Flashback for 1883 Season 5.1 and 1923 I couldn't watch in Germany yet. But the Series are completly staying for themselves |

Paramount is just killing it with opening credit songs.
1883 opening credits song was mind boggling. 1923 opening credits song is up there too. Dalton is so bad ass. that snowy mine scene. A typical timothy james bondish scene. |

I thought it was only four episodes! I was enjoying it and was waiting for episode 5 to appear but gave up after several weeks. There's another four episodes to come? Why would they split a short eight season series into two halves?

I've enjoyed it but I honestly think this could've been 8-10 episodes, it feels like they're just dragging out a lot of stuff. Last edited by kevin87; 02-20-2023 at 12:20 AM. |

talk about hoodwinking viewers!
had this been regular minimum 10 episodes season, spencer would've arrived at Yellowstone ranch as season ending cliffhanger. Now.........wait for eternity for story to move forward. what a waste of a good show. |

I am liking 1923 but as the Yellowstone universe goes, this is the weakest of the three entries so far. 1883 and Yellowstone are superior shows but I still like watching 1923 to see how it will all tie in with the current Yellowstone storyline. I wish 1923 moved a little faster as it has seemed to bog down with the multiple storylines, especially the Spencer odyssey in trying to get back home. Sheridan seems comfortable with dragging this out. The cliffhanger episode 8 was a bit of a let down and now we have to wait for probably a full year before we get on with it.
As for Sheridan's work overall, I like most of his work and usually look forward to watching anything he is involved in. The Yellowstone shows, Tulsa King, and most of his his movies (specifically Sicario, Hell and High Water, and Wind River) are pretty much homeruns for me. I am OK with Mayor of Kingstown as it is not my favorite but still up to par. However, the Sicario sequel, Without Remorse, and Those Who Wish Me dead were real letdowns and not up to Sheridan's normal standards, IMHO. |
