I, for one, am hoping the film is 1.78:1 cropped using the wrong HD 720p master upscaled to 4K with the DTS-HD MA 5.1 track actually being a Dolby Digital 192kbs 2.0 stereo track. With none of the extras, not even the archival Paramount stuff.

That’ll make negative Nancys and disappointing Daves so happy.

Yep, Creasy’s back! As inexplicable as all these audio snafus have been lately I’ll bet cash money that the geometry of the transfer on the EH UHD will be fine. The audio, on the other hand…

This was the first movie I ever saw in the theater while high and it absolutely terrified me. Incidentally, two days later it was the first movie I ever saw in the movie while drunk and I thought it was hilarious. I watched it last year sober and my final impression is something closer to the latter but I'll still have to pick it up for nostalgic purposes. And it should be a lovely disc.

It sounds like you've got an interesting study going on here. Try watching it the following ways, and then write down all of the results for future publishing consideration:

- sleep deprivation. Stay up at least 36 hours in a row, and then watch it.
- full bladder. Drink six glasses of water (at least 8 ounces) and view the entire movie without a bathroom break.
- empty stomach. 24 hours of fasting should suffice.

I have other ideas, but if I post them I'll get banned. Anyway, good luck!

European retail sources are also reporting that Paramount is preparing a 4K Ultra HD release of Event Horizon (1997) for the coming months. We’ll post more as we learn it.

Yes! Yes! Yes!!!!!!

Seeing as Beverley Hills Cop II happened, if this is real and from Paramount, then surely Scream 2 is happening as well. Now I'm more interested in if Paramount and Disney will miss the 25th anniversary of Titanic because of James Cameron.

Original release date (in the US) was August 15, 1997. If they had pushed the 4K release another week it would have almost been twenty-five years to the day lol.

Saw the 4K streaming version of "Event Horizon" earlier this year and it looked amazing for its age! As for those zombie-looking Doctor Weir hands (Hell's gate opening through the Gravity Drive Gateway I presume) is on a removable clear slip sleeve from this graphic. Looks like the good Doctor is revealed (center of eyes pupil) when the sleeve is removed, as it is on the actual steelbook!

The zombie hands are stupid and don't belong, and it would have been better without the eyelashes, but the rest of it looks good.

It is pretty weird looking to be honest, especially when you realize it's going to look like a bunch of hands groping a big giant eyeball. There's much better ideas that would capture this great Sci-Fi horror than that.
