At least I can still enjoy Audrey Rose since she was only a young girl in it not yet contaminated by such hateful ways.

That's a real shame. A few years ago, I contacted her and sent her some photos to sign - she was super sweet and signed all H6 and Audrey Rose photos for me. It's really sad how everything has changed...

It's rather good. Anthony Hopkins is in it so him alone is worth it.

Tastes are very subjective. I couldn't find anything worthy of cinematic value in this film other than Marsha Mason's acting. The film itself starts off with a good premise and goes nowhere. All Anthony Hopkins does is walk around saying 'Audrey Rose' a million times - have never understood his appeal as an actor. But yeah, there isn't anything compelling in this film when compared to other great horror fare of the 70's/80's. If you haven't watched 'The Changeling', that'd be a much more recommended flick.

I agree. Hopkins saying Audrey Rose a million times kinda made me wonder if they thought I was forgetful of the name of the movie. And her character is really underwhelming. You would think there would be something more old spirited regarding Audrey Rose's character, but she's just one note.

Anthony Hopkins is very good in it, but the movie is pretty dull, with a large stretch of Audrey Rose being, effectively, a courtroom drama, not a compelling ghost story. I've watched the movie a few times, and it never gets any more interesting (or interesting at all, honestly). I own a used copy of Frank De Felitta's novel, but I've never gotten around to reading it, possibly because I'm afraid it won't be any better than the movie.

Someone already recommended The Changeling as a much better ghost story from the era. I agree, and I'll add The Haunting of Julia as a much better alternative, as well. Heck, De Felitta directed (but didn't write) Dark Night of the Scarecrow, and that movie is better than Audrey Rose.

I don't even remember it being a court room drama. I guess it's pretty forgettable. I remember being underwhelmed the first time I saw it.
