Same. You can tell one was directed by a woman and the other by the most testosterone-fuelled male director on the planet, as such they have very different approaches to the same subject and I love them both dearly for that. Armageddon gets more noggin-time though, in my first job we had the DVD on repeat all day (UK folks may recall that the first release was a non-anamorphic flipper!) so the movie is burned into my brain.

To go along with the tone of the film it was. He was never actually aiming at him anyway.

I don't see thousands of great/classic movies in The Criterion Collection either.
Not to say Deep Impact is a classic...

I like both movies to be honest - deep impact doesn’t feel gratuitous like Armageddon did - you can tell which film was directed by a commercials director and which one was directed by an “actors “ director - I have the open matte version of DI recorded from Starz and it looks way better than the blu ray does ? Anyone know why that is plus you see more picture on the top and bottom of the frame - I wish studios would release open matte blu rays now seeing as we all have 16x9 TVs - has this topic been brought up before ? I just think they look better now . I have many open matte movies recorded from various tv channels and actually collect them over blu rays now if the quality is up to par …

It was shot Super35 which exposes the entire 35MM frame - but it was composed for 2.35 and should be seen that way. You're just seeing a bunch of extra superfluous stuff that was never meant to be seen when properly presented - and that's the 'scope version on disc.

I wouldn’t piss on most open matte versions if they were on fire. I’ve got a few I like, but most are dire.

Let's if my sources are right lol. But this should be announced soon, probably for May...?

A remake of The Italian Job should also be coming soon to UHD. Just a rumor tho.

I'll take both, if true.

Irrespective of the botched nature of some of their 4k masters, it's nonetheless great to see Paramount still pumping out a goodly number of back-catalog 4k titles, AND continuing to roll out a decent number of 4k license deals to the boutiques, as well.

These Paramount flicks turned 4K Dolby Vision on iTunes recently.

1. Sleepy Hollow
2. Team America World Police
3. Terms of Endearment
4. Wayne's World 2

Remastering wise they all look good besides the usual grain management.

Deep Impact pushes the grain management envelope a bit too much for my tastes.

Paramount seems keen on timing UHD releases with anniversary years. The ones that have popped up recently in listings include:

- Flashdance (1983, 40th Anniversary)
- The Core (2003, 20th Anniversary)
- The Italian Job (2003, 20th Anniversary)
- Deep Impact (1998, 25th Anniversary)

Based on that pattern and what is available in UHD digitally, I'd guess the following are possible candidates for physical UHD releases this year:

- Terms of Endearment (1983, 40th Anniversary)
- Wayne's World 2 (1993, 30th Anniversary)
- The Truman Show (1998, 25th Anniversary)
- The Rugrats Movie (1998, 25th Anniversary)
- The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008, 15th Anniversary)

Just a guess...

More exciting to me than drawing from their digital 4k catalog, or anniversary releases, are the random boner jams they just pull out of their shorts occasionally for 4k physical releases, like Dragonslayer (1981), Pulp Fiction 4k, Red Eye 4k, etc. It gives me hope that just about anything they haven't licensed out to the boutiques already could show up on the format, at any time, out of their back catalog.

Oh boy I'd be so giddy if we got a Team America 4K release
