As well as no HDR for the 4K release, the discs had a lossy track (DD 5.1) vs. the Blu-Ray’s lossless (Dolby True HD 5.1). Back then, the suggestion was the reason the f*ck up occurred was that they couldn’t fit the lossless track on the disc along with the large HEVC files without compromising PQ and debate raged that the lossy audio was pretty much as good as the lossless track. They resolved both issues for the second season (had HDR and Lossless audio). I bought Jack Ryan S1 and S2 Blu-Rays, so will settle for my Sony X-700 upscaling the picture to output at 2160p/24, with SDR and enjoy the Atmos track. It’s not worth the upgrade IMO without the Atmos tracks. |
