wow! already dropped in price? I don't think Diabolik has a preorder price guarantee like Amazon and you cannot cancel and reorder. Which means people like me who ordered on day one are paying more money than people who waited. Doesn't seem right to me.

I like Diabolik but they do have a few polices that I'm not fond of. You are correct that they don't price match. The also don't typically allow you to cancel pre-orders.

Ooh. Glad I didn't pull the trigger anywhere yet. I'll have to squeeze this into my budget somehow.

I wish, but it already has a May date. Pre-orders are already up and I don't think titles are ever really pushed forward often. Pushed back yes, but pushed forward? Not really.

They said when that initial May date was given that it wasn't a firm date and they were targeting February/March. I think they didn't want another delay situation so they just told retailers a further out date hoping to surprise consumers. But still, you are right, I have never heard of a situation like this. LOL.

I remember when this was first announced, it was mentioned that it would be feb/march despite being listed for may. Managed to find the post, we shall see.

I hope you're right, but with all of their titles being postponed constantly, I can't imagine a boxset of films getting an earlier release that what's on the retailers website. Weirder things have happened, but I'd put money on the table that we'll get this in May if we are lucky.

Had a previous awesome experience with Grindhouse. Having never heard of them before they had the SB Vol II set from Arrow available for shipping like 3 months early. Though, I remember paying pretty much full price for it, it's all water under the bridge at this point. But, yeah, the product certainly shipped early and it arrived in one piece and wasn't messed up like I've had with another online shipper whose name I won't mention. Anyways, just bought Yes, Madam and Royal Warriors from Eureka. Have never seen ITLOD III but am a huge fan of IV. Thinking about getting the 88 release box set though I have those two Eureka titles and will probably get their IV. Maybe even their III, but might wait until after this box set it released to get III if I like it. At least with Eureka and 88 they normally have their own set of extras and is sometimes worth the double-dip. And, I've always preferred box sets over individual titles just sitting on my shelf. Though I have probably 800 million copies of the 4 (or 5 if you count GOD) Bruce Lee movies (as an adult martial artist movie maker), I took all of them off my shelf except Criterion's box set version; though Shout`s Select blu-ray releases rival Criterion. I really need to buy some more shelves and re-organize and condense my titles. Or, I could just sell some stuff!

If so, then Amazon Canada better get on finally making the preorder available for this. I've been checking daily. Just says "Temporarily Out of Stock".

For those who missed it, multiple Michelle Yeoh films are going to be on Criterion Channel starting next week, including Police Story 3, Magnificent Warriors, and the first two In the Line of Duty films.

this set seems to have significantly less special features than the Eureka equivalents. Of course, I preordered the 88 set...

Yeah, that's true. But for me personally, I rarely watch special features(just don't have the time!) so that doesn't bother me too much. I also pre-ordered the 88 films set just to have all 4 films in a box set. And that box set looks so damn cool, I prefer the 88 Films packaging to Eureka's, for sure. Purely superficial preference, I know, but hey, I have read posts on this forum where people admit to buying movies they don't even like just for a cool looking slipcover (cough cough Vinegar Syndrome thread cough cough).
So, I am still pretty happy with going for the 88 Films set. Hopefully the box set won't be delayed for several months.

Less features than the Eureka set, but significantly cheaper ($61.99 vs ~$86). I'm still torn on whether to buy the Eureka's individually or 88's set. This 100 page booklet also sounds tempting.

Surely this was a mistake from the 88 customer service rep, the reason i asked them was because i was able to grab 88's US release of Gestapo's Last Orgy from their eBay account which required no importing for me in the uk.

I asked about ITLOD set and was told there may be some office copys put on eBay but not for release date.

Whoa! a 100 page booklet? I missed that in the description. to me, that changes a lot. A nice case and a 100 page booklet makes up -at least to me - some missing extras.

Yeah, admittedly, it’s sad this has less features than Eureka, even if I don’t think they’re a dealbreaker.

I do wonder though why some from Eureka are present here and others are not? Usually archival stuff is easy to get, it’s the new stuff which can sometimes necessitate extra costs labels want to avoid, but some have carried over and others have not.

Noticed all Eureka releases have an extra commentary track in addition to the Frank Djeng one. There’s also the following that’s on Eureka and not 88.

Royal Warriors
John Sham interview
Locations feature

Yes Madam
Surprisingly has all the same features!

In the Line of Duty 3
Cynthia Khan Interview
Michiko Nichiwaki Interview

In the Line of Duty 4
Additional archival commentary
Donnie Yen Action Featurette
New cast and crew interviews

The customer service rep lady from 88 Films has a lot of bad information sometimes. I had asked her a long time ago about Righting Wrongs coming to the US from 88 Films and she said to it was! Obviously, that didn't happen and Vinegar Syndrome released it.
