15 years, woo. Saw this with my mother opening weekend, she hated it.
Are you talking about the glue holding the slipcover together ?

I think most of these weren't creased properly so the slipcover is more rounded causing it to buldge. It's an easy fix though. Just gently put pressure down each side like you were creasing a piece of paper. Worked for me.

This is definitely the issue mine had. It just wasn't folded well. I took the steel out, folded the plastic slip at the regular fold like it should've been, and it made a perfectly fine rectangle

For mine the right area of the front of the slipcover was bulging. Makes it look like there's a big air pocket underneath the slip. It's not a huge deal and may be fixed, but it did cause a little mini panic when I first got it, as I was thinking the whole SB was like that.

I noticed all the slips at Best Buy had the bubble and weird creases. I ended up ordering one from Amazon and it was perfect.

I got mine from Amazon, and it was bubbled out in the front too. You may have just gotten lucky.

There were three at my BB and when I opened my copy, the slipcover had the aforementioned bulge on the right side front which turned into a dent due to the tightness of the plastic wrap. On top of that, there was a severe horizontal slice across the center of the spine. Thought by now that issue would’ve been fixed after all these years. I went back and they were very understanding and gave me a replacement copy that is near perfect.

Oh, and BB had a 25th anniversary Steelbook of Ghost in the Shell right next to Cloverfield for $16.99! It is gorgeous. Owned!

I can't tell you how many conversations I've had with Best Buy over the years about their handling, packaging, etc of steels and other shipments, up and down the chain...all the way up to the executive level.

I used to work with shipments at the national level so the loss they take in products like this in terms of labor hours (from customers calling in, to the people who handle it on the back end, etc), to having to sort it out with scanvo, the company who requested the steel (disney, warner, etc) and the money they "save" on going with cheaper quality shipping materials (which is not much for a company ordering at the level for places like best buy, amazon, etc…talking the difference of a couple cents between the good stuff and garbage mailers) are all lost when they have to send out replacements, and so on would be save if they did it right the first time, AND properly trained their people to open boxes (it's not that hard to open a box fast AND not slice what's inside like you're trying to go full ninja on the contents).

Now multiply that by the percentage of a 4000+ run they do this with over the number of years they have allowed this to go on.

The short version is they'd rather lose money than fix their system.

Finally got mine at the Amazon locker yesterday. I'm surprised that it has a J-Card and a plastic slip. I don't think I've ever seen that before. BTW for those with bowed out slips. Just push down along the sides like you would when folding paper and it will straighten out.

I am happy for that. Too bad Lionsgate didn't do this. I want that I card so I can transfer things to my old BD steelbook with the poster.

Mine came with a small dent at the top, but doesn't effect the front or back so not worth getting a replacement. A little disappointed with the slip on this steelbook, the slips from Lionsgate are so much better.

Mine came from Walmart with the envelope slashed and half open. I couldn't believe that the movie was undamaged.

The steelbook is pretty nice but this is a good example of why I hate the plastic sleeves; this one is wrinkly and warped. Not worth it for the camcorder gimmick.

Yeah, mine's warped and creased at the lower right corner. It still is nice but looks goofy.

Should be easy fix to warm the glue and adjust it?

Just received mine (it dropped to $25 at BB.ca yesterday).
What a gorgeous SteelBook! I must have been lucky as my plastic slip is neither warped nor creased. I really like the way it looks with the slip on.
I've always loved this movie, and I've watched it multiple times when it came out on DVD, but it's been a while, and I never watched it in HD. Can't wait to watch this on the big screen!
