Watching now and none of the 3 subtitle options work, is this a bug with the disc? Anybody else having this issue?

I just tested out the Extended cut disc

If i play from menu automatically with Italian audio the subtitles automatically come on.

I did notice if you use the subtitle button on players remote Sub option 1 and 3 work but option 2 does nothing that I noticed

Strange, I've tried all 3 sub options iwth both audio options and nothing, wonder if it's a bug with this specific player?

It could be… i’d say eject it from your player and start over just click the Italian audio option from main menu and hit play and see if that works.

If it doesn’t and you try subtitle options I’d e-mail Vin Syn and give them your make and model # for your 4K player

VS does tend to still push its primaries on these 4k releases, and the skin tones here do run a bit on the hot side, but overall it looks like a solid presentation. I do also see a bit of yellowish noise in the grain field suggesting some minor encode/chroma issues but nothing overly distracting in motion. I did not have any issues with enabling the subtitles on my oppo 203 or on a Samsung 8500m.

My copy arrived yesterday, it's such a nice looking set. My only complaint is no different art on the actual 4K case insert. Both sides are identical to the slip. Looking forward to popping it in the player later today...

Just watched the extended version last night with the Italian audio. The English subtitles naming the cottage call it the outhouse and it's referred to so often I had to laugh. Excellent package overall, just didn't expect subtitles as funny as those in Heaven's Gate!

I just finished watching the extended cut on Disc 1. As far as the transfer goes on this one? I don't necessarily think this needed a 4K, a BD probably would have sufficed. I don't know, it still looked much better than anything I've owned/seen before. Listening to the Kat Ellinger commentary as I type this, and I agree w/ her this movie is under appreciated. I think it's a bloody fantastic movie...

I have not received my copy yet, but it seems VS has not stopped amping up the HDR colors on their 4k UHDs. I wonder how it will compare to the upcoming 88 Films edition.

Last time I watched I preferred the shorter version. So good that both are in 4K.

Colors on the BD were so bad. This 4K seems closer to the DVD colors but of course better.

1 and 17 look like 88 was not color timed.

After watching both cuts on the set, I wound up preferring the shorter cut. In this case I don't think the extended added much. For example; the pool scene went on for like 10min before she finally noticed the box cutter...

They pushed the colors to 11, as usual with VS.
I wish they had dialed it down a bit.

Still, blows away the old discs.

I don't know if the 88 could be trusted.

While they're never shy about pushing the primaries, you gotta give VS a ton of credit for coaxing every last bit of available detail out of the source materials, and never futzing around with the healthy grain field. As a result, the upgrade here is literally a bit shocking over prior HD releases. The folks that continue to insist that 16mm films can't see much of a leg up from the 4k uhd format just got their feelings crushed....again.

I grabbed this the other day on a whim, and just skimmed through it and thought it looked really nice.

Maniac, Evil Dead, Texas Chain Saw Massacre and now A Blade in the Dark prove how nice 16mm can truly look.

Add Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer to that list. Arrow's release was really nice.
