Pretty much summed it up perfectly. In no way is finishing the movie this late acceptable, it's a real mess. I was looking forward to the stereo version more than most films since the first made such effective use of the medium, and to see in flat will be a disappointment.

Procrastination and missed deadlines are expected for a community college term paper but pretty lame for a professional megabudget studio blockbuster.

Still no facts, just pure speculation. But ok, I won't fight about it, just time wasted about something without value(referring about the movie).

Every creative involved is under NDA contract and doesn't want to "bite the hand that feeds," so we aren't going get a more detailed story than these quotes about why a 3D deadline was missed and who was responsible.

Quote:
Well, it cost a lot more than the first one [Into the Spider-Verse] because they had a bunch of problems on this one," he explains, "and they scrapped a bunch of stuff and went back - it's Lord & Miller and they kind of write as they go...

Q: "Was there a lot of last-minute line-tweaking with your character?"

Isaac: "Yes. It helps that a lot of these characters are masked, so you can keep changing lines right up to the last second [laughs]. For something as seemingly rigid as animation, the amount of experimentation we got to do on this movie was really fun. Their [Lord and Miller’s] way of working is a beautiful combination of finding pathos and humour, but also making fun of it and being willing to try anything."
Quote:
Q: "Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s process is one of tweaking lines right up until the very last moment . What’s that been like for you?"

Steinfeld: "You have the best time. Watching Lord and Miller do their thing is a show in itself. It’s amazing to see them coming up with stuff in the moment, making it funnier, more emotional, more grounded. You’ll walk into a recording session, like, 'This [movie] is coming out in a couple of weeks, guys. What are we doing here?!' But every time you walk out, you feel an improvement has been made. They’re such perfectionists: I really admire that."

This isn't showing in 3D in Manila, the 3D was part of the charm of the first one. I would have little to no desire to watch this in 2D.

Wow gutted to learn this isn’t getting a 3D release. My hype just fell off a cliff.

The associate editor (or maybe there are multiple associate editors?) for Spider-Verse, Andy Leviton, just confirmed there is no 3D on Twitter.

It seemed unlikely but still a huge bummer. Loved the first one, but even 2D movies I’m really looking forward to rarely motivate me to head to theaters anymore.

So I guess just the 4K version. A big middle finger to Sony for pushing 3D hard and then totally abandoning it.

You're not giving Sony the middle finger if you're buying the 4K version on release, you're giving them a reward. Cash money cha-ching!

I'll be buying this used, or in a sale.

So we know, what is even worse than no 3D Blu-ray. Not even a 3D version for their vault. What a shame.

But that’s not the main point… The Marvel discs are the only Japan-exclusive 3D releases (and Ralph Breaks the Internet from the same publisher.) Germany and England had more exclusive 3D discs than Japan has. Even Brazil is probably up there. Those Marvel discs are some kind of a fluke within Disney, quite possibly justified more by driving international sales at the higher price point. They are not released because the Japanese market for 3D is significantly higher than anywhere else in the world.

You even posted a quote from somebody that worked in this and they confirmed no 3D, those people spreading false hope sucks!

While I agree it's nonsense, Japan to some extent along with RSM are the only ones supporting 3D right now when it comes to modern/current box office. The KINO and VS titles are great for 3D collectors and a niche audience but the general public wouldn't really look at that as support much like saying 4K is striving because VS released Massage Parlour Murders in 4K or KINO released Hard Target in 4k.

Rendering/converting to 3D isn't free. As much as studios seem to love paying for conversions and then never releasing them on home video these days, making a 3D version for 1 market would be insane.

Yeah, imagine China having exclusive 3D movies not to be seen anywhere else in the world. Truly insane. :/

Yeah, but I was referring about Hollywood movies that had 3D versions in China to never be seen in that way after theatrical release.

Only because on those few cases the Chinese studio paid for the conversion themselves so its exclusive for their market.

Since this isn't showing in 3D, I guess I'm just gonna watch this in CinemaScope analogue 35mm.
