That's a series that gets my vote for must have if you're an ecchi fan.
The character designs are very nice and full of variety in body types.
Lot's of good fan service of all kinds. ( booba, pantsu, yuri, loli, even shota and otokonoko!) And a surprisingly solid story to boot!

You can't go wrong at that price as well.

I picked it up with Love Ru and Yuki Yuna.

Cat Planet Cuties could have been so much better if they focused on the catgirl aliens instead of those two really annoying human girls.

The first two seasons of Queen's Blade were good but it goes in some really weird directions after that.

All these years later, that title change decision of Asobi ni Ikuyo! (Let's Go Play!) to Cat Planet Cuties...

So "Let's Go Play" was the original title....doesn't really fit. Though I don't know how different the manga is the anime.

The only thing about the Tu Love Ru set is it's missing the OVAs, so you just have momo and nana just show up at the beginning of motto and no idea who they are. Not to mention all the super interesting episodes in the OVA. It's on HIDIVE too which is the weirdest part...

Is there any release of the OVA? I couldn't find one doing a quick search. Very unfortunate.

I will make sure to watch that though thanks for the heads up.

Light novel actually, the manga was adapted from the light novels. The light novels ran from 2003-2015 for 20 volumes. Hardly anyone knows how it differs as per usual, the fan translations went nowhere, and no way it gets licensed as it's too old and obscure at this point.

Just a non-subbed JP release and of course cat-site fansubbed. Sad as it's some of the best of Tu Love-Ru

They were all originally released on DVD with the LE versions of certain volumes of the manga in Japan and were not able to be licensed when Sentai originally licensed the show. While I’m not sure that is still the case at this point in time. I’d imagine if they were able to get them they would have gotten them when they decided to dub the show.

Was hoping with the JP Blu-ray release of the Darkness OVA’s late last year we could finally get them here even if subbed only.

The To Luv Ru Darkness ovas are readily available but due to forum rules I can't say where. There's 10 of them and they're a total blast to watch-of course there's all the loli shit with Mikan and Darkness. Your mileage may vary depending your tolerence for that kind of stuff........!
Also the 6 ovas from the original To Love Ru series-same place.

Not able? The more likely explanation is it's a different licensor. Sentai got the series from TBS Animation, but the international rights for the OVAs should be handled by Shueisha. This is why you often see these types of things rarely come over here, it's a separate license and many find it to not be worth the trouble. Now if it's something from say Kadokawa or Kodansha, you're more likely to see them as they'll end up handling international rights to both the series and the OVAs, even though the OVAs should be a separate license.

Why is it so hard for companies to license OVA's? There are any number of series with plot moving events that happen between series in OVA form, and most of the time we have to end up looking at Quasi legal sites to watch or hoping an episode list on Wikipedia will let us know what the heck happened.
OVAs for broader franchises generally come in two flavors these days. The first are bonus, home video exclusive episodes that are made to encourage fans to buy the expensive DVDs and Blu-rays, or are sold as separate stand-alone episodes. Sometimes these will bridge a story gap between seasons. The other are manga pack-in OVAs that you can only buy through acquiring a manga.

Generally, when anime are licensed these days, it's done whole TV seasons at a time, with negotiations starting well in advance of their airing. This is entirely due to simulcasting, the importance of which cannot be overstated. And so, with great effort, these contracts are completed around the time the first episode is broadcast, and the show gets streamed like normal.

But at this point, there are no plans for an OVA, beyond perhaps a twinkle in the show producer's eye. An OVA wouldn't get green-lit for production until it became clear whether the show had found an audience, and that wouldn't be for at least a few weeks into the show's airing. But by that point the contract is signed, and it's a done deal. Any new productions would not be covered by it.

What's more, these OVA episodes sometimes have entirely different licensors. For example, while a TV network may be the point of contact for licensing a TV series, they'd have nothing to do with the home video release. Usually, anything made directly for the home video release has to be licensed from the original Japanese disc publisher, even if it's a continuation of the same series, made by the same people, for the same studio. Same goes for manga pack-in OVAs: those are usually controlled entirely by the manga publisher.

So, in order to get an OVA episode, any overseas publisher would have to negotiate an entirely new contract with a completely different company. Assuming that company even WANTS to do a deal (and it's their prerogative to say no), the royalties for that contract would need to be tracked separately. Which means that anything covered by that separate license can't be put on the same disc with what's covered by another contract. That means that ONE EPISODE has to be sold entirely separately.

Do YOU want to be the anime company that announces that they're selling a disc in 2017 with a single episode on it? That wouldn't fly with fans 15 years ago! How would you even price that?

There are series where the OVA is an essential part of a story, and that really sucks for Western fans, to not get that episode. This is definitely a problem that the industry is going to have to solve at some point. I have a feeling that's going to take years of the overseas publishers complaining to the production committee, who will bring up that problem during production committee meetings for future shows.

Yeah, this can be a frustrating business sometimes.

Also, those sites are not "quasi-legal," they're illegal. Just sayin'.

Just to note, Sentai DID sell a single short episode before. Remember them releasing the Highschool of the Dead: Drifters of the Dead episode by itself? $10 MSRP for the Blu-ray, and $7 MSRP for the DVD for 16 minutes of content back in November 2013.

Has anyone had the new Peter Grill steelbook shipped yet? My Amazon order never got a ship date and the page now says “Not available.” My order says “we’ll let you know when we have a date”

My Amazon order is the same. It’s been saying that for a while on mine. Not shown up in any of the eBay stores or even reseller stores yet either. I don’t think anyplace has actually gotten stock.

I got an email from Amazon yesterday saying the new date is 12/21 and that's what it says on my order now.

The difference here: To Love Ru Franchise alsready has 15 regular length & 1 half length OVA - more than enough for another Blu-ray set.
But still, it also depends on Japan

Some pretty cheap stuff at Amazon 68% off is probably as cheap as these shows will go without the Classics , etc. cheapo versions existing anymore.
