Weird.
Just arrived, so thanks to those that suggested cancelling and reordering.

I've re-ordered too, annoying when this happens. Luckily it's not a sold out limited edition or something

Why even pre order if you’re going to be bumped to the back of the line? Amazon has been total garbage since holiday season last year. I haven’t had one preorder come on time. I wish WA had a site to directly order from instead of having an Amazon storefront as their “official” store. Also sucks that in most cases (not all. The HB set went up early and I think this did too) they only let you preorder a few weeks before release.

Watching this right now and it’s mind blowing how good it looks and sounds compared to even the DVD that was in the Warner box set back in the day. I really hope they do Room Service, At the Circus, The Big Store and Go West since those are on crappy flipper DVDs currently. I know A Night In Casablanca was already put out by a boutique.

There’s three ways they can do this, each with its own drawbacks:

1. Release them individually in order (Room Service, At The Circus, Go West, The Big Store). The downside is they get less popular as they go, so anywhere along the line they can hit the point where the cost isn’t worth the payoff.

2. Release then individually in reverse order (The Big Store, Go West, At The Circus, Room Service). Downside is if one doesn’t sell well, there goes the rest of them.

3. Release them on double feature discs like they were on DVD (Room Service and At The Circus on one, Go West and The Big Store on the other). Downside is that’s two discs instead of four, so WAC’s best case scenario for sales and profits just got cut in half.

Crawling up on the 100th anniversary of The Cocoanuts, I think Universal, WB, and whoever has the rights to A Night In Casablanca and Love Happy will get together and do something to celebrate their hundredth anniversary of their surviving films. So my prediction is they’re all out on Blu-ray by then.

While this teeters on the edge of gimmicky, it also wouldn’t shock me if 4Ks pop up. All of the restorations were done in HDR already. I can’t imagine 4Ks being that much if a revelation (it might improve The Cocoanuts somewhat in terms of color balance and grain resolution, but that’s about it), but I can see them coming. Not sure how many will sell though, since I anticipate others will see it as a gimmick too.

You make good points. Personally I’d just release them as individual titles. That way it minimises errors going across multi movies. Obviously it’s more expensive this way but I’m confident if all six Thin Man movies can sell the Marx will sell well too.

I'd be happy if they do it this way, means less of a wait between releases too.

Has someone else noticed that the timing of the subtitles is not always perfect? Very often, they show up a bit late.

Sure, it was not easy with a movie with such rapid fire dialogue, but I have seen way better synchronization.
