This seems like a significant amount of speculation and fear mongering, the man said he had a list of 80 titles he was very interested in, why would he turn it into a BBC focused brand? Where did you even get this idea?

Fear mongering is intentional. So, don't call me out for that crap. I have a legitimate question based on a quote that was already posted above.

I would be nice if they did a kickstarter for the Oh My Goddess! OVAs. Those are a childhood favorite of mine.

Younger anime fans are really into ’80s anime aesthetics, and I don’t think the industry has done a great job of rising to meet them. Bubblegum Crisis is AnimEigo’s flagship title, and I hope to do a lot with Bubblegum Crisis and its related spin-off works. Beyond that, I think there’s some good merch we could do.

That’s not at all what he’s saying. In the first paragraph, Justin states his intention to make AnimEigo a household name. He plans to use Bubblegum Crisis as a launchpad to introduce newer anime fans to classic 80s anime.

But when you quote him as saying, "Bubblegum Crisis is AnimEigo’s flagship title, and I hope to do a lot with Bubblegum Crisis and its related spin-off works.", what I'm asking is in parallel to how Discotek were/was releasing Lupin titles in a 3-to-1 basis at times. So, will BBC be treated as Lupin was, even when AnimEigo only releases 2 titles a year?

I'm not holding Justin or AnimEigo to anything specific that they haven't said. But I've never felt BBC was AnimEigo's "flagship title" (and that could just be me), and to hear that he wants to push that franchise out without there being any real comments as to how many titles he plans on releasing through the AnimEigo brand per year just has me curious. If BBC is going to be pushed on fans who either don't know the brand, don't like the brand, are fine with what they already own, or who enjoyed the randomness of what Robert ever announced without there being an expectation of, "Oh, more BBC is coming" before anything got announced, then that's kinda something to discuss here, isn't it?

That's all I'm saying.

(lol, it just dawned on me I've been abbreviating it as BBC this whole time... whoops! To be fair, BuBblegum Crisis, lol)

Robert said he has a couple more titles to kickstart, I'm hoping that's one of them along with Vampire Princess Miyu.

Came into this thread, saw talk about BBC and thought why would AnimEigo do British television?

As far as I knew, Bubblegum Crisis was always abbreviated BGC. I love BGC, so happy to see stuff for that, but I don't believe what he said means that's all they plan to do.

I think you’re reading a bit too much into what a “flagship title” is. Justin is only taking advantage of a license that AnimEigo already has and plans to give it the MediaOCD treatment (à la the Project A-ko kitchen sink Blu-ray.) There’s plenty of folks who would double dip for that alone, but he also intends to release the BGC spin-offs on Blu-ray, which is something Robert never did. I believe Justin’s rule of not discussing licenses until they’ve been officially announced still applies, which is why he’s been mum on what’s coming in the future. It’s also worth noting that Justin has already said they’ll be doing more standard releases with AnimEigo. If they do continue Kickstarter projects once Robert and Natsumi officially step down, I’d expect they’ll be on a case-by-case basis.

I'm just afraid they'll end up only doing standard editions, like Discotek. Hopefully not. Every title I own from the AnimEigo Kickstarters is the deluxe box set version. If they totally do away with box sets, then at least give us some steelbooks... Discotek really needs to release more in steelbooks, too.

They would have to re-license it first since they lost it back in 2010.

There have never been any bd releases of any of the Oh My Goddess anime in the us. I'd love to see the movie released on bd, it was gorgeous.

I would love to see a BD release of AD Police Files. Or even better, a UHD. In MediaOCD, we trust
