This would've been titled simply "Furiosa" if Miller had his say, but franchise branding is a thing and WB needed audiences to really understand this is a movie from the Mad Max series.

It's actually titled onscreen simply as Furiosa.

I saw it yesterday and the onscreen title was definitely Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

The title was "Furiosa - A Mad Max Saga" for me.

In scandinavia it was "Mad Max - A Furiosa Saga". Really weird.

That's how I remember it as well, but didn't pay too much attention so wasn't 100% sure. Going by IMDB, apparently it is titled simply "Furiosa" in some countries, such as Australia, Colombia, Mexico and New Zealand.

I appreciate vehicular mayhem is a key part of the Mad Max saga, but I'd have preferred if they spent more time exploring The Green Place. Not sure it covered enough new ground to warrant close to 2.5 hours and the action wasn't as jaw-dropping as Fury Road.

I'm slightly worried that a poor box office performance will put off another film focusing on somewhere new.

Loved this, a fantastic fugue counter-theme to Fury Road. Every bit an accomplishment but with different goals. Leans harder into the myth and folklore without losing the edge.

Saw this in IMAX and it’s a damn good prequel to Fury Road, also Hemsworth was just feasting in this role. I’d give both films a 4/5, they’re great companion pieces.

[Show spoiler](pls don't shoot me, I stopped following Hollywood in 2019). So this is a prequel to Fury Road's character who wasn't named Max? So Mad Max is not in this film, and instead Thor, but it's called Mad Max? Hmm, okay. Tbh I didn't get the hype for Fury Road whatsoever and just missed Mel Gibson when I tried to watch it. I saw some type of Terminator robot hand in the trailer pics and am intruiged but people talking about cheap looking Disney CGI have me wanting to pass. I suppose if Charlize Theron isn't in it it may be an improvement. I guess I am destined to own this when I pick up the next UHD set on sale.

Can't remember what the onscreen title was yesterday but I definitely liked the movie.

I will say I was disappointed to find out
[Show spoiler]that Furiosa lost her arm because of Dementus. I always assumed, as I'm sure most people did, that she lost it because of Immortan Joe (either because of his direct actions or during a supply run). It made Furiosa fit in with the rest of the group escaping in the war rig that she has literally given a piece of herself to Joe; Max's blood is taken from him, the wives egg-cells/children are taken from them, and Nux & Furiosa give their muscle (literally in Furiosa's case if you assumed as I have that she lost her arm in a battle fought in Joe's name).

My overall complaint is that Fury Road leaves you with the impression that Joe is the author of all of Furiosa's pain, but the movie Furiosa tells it that Joe is more or less not a major factor in her life. Granted Joe is still a maniac who has created a god-like culture around himself and hordes women captive so that he can rape them so as to produce a healthy heir. But his direct transgressions against Furiosa are much less benign than what is implied in Fury Road.

Aside from that one part that sort of dulls the storytelling of Fury Road for me, I really liked Furiosa!

The part that didn't make any sense to me was
[Show spoiler]how she was even allowed to stay 'free' once she grew her hair out again. At first she hid as a boy to avoid being caught but then stopped hiding and was seen by them all as a beautiful woman and should have been re-taken as a wife or milk mother but they all just ignored it and accepted her for her new role.

I know what you mean but watching the movie I always assumed the other characters always took her for a man (aside from Jack of course). It's a little far-fetched but
[Show spoiler]After the initial group on the war-rig is wiped out, only Jack knows she's a woman. Near the end when Furiosa comes to tell Joe what Dementus's plan is, even though she has long hair, and they can clearly hear her voice, but I figured they just didn't care about her gender at that moment because they were so fixated on killing Dementus.

Again, it's far-fetched, but that's what the movie gives us. To your point though, the scene where Furiosa confronts Joe near the end would have been a great opportunity for Joe to imprison her again or for him to give her reason to want to take revenge against him in Fury Road. But Furiosa the movie never really gives Furiosa the character a deeper reason to cause the events of Fury Road, other than the very general reasons of Joe being a psycho and that she wanted to return him.

Fury Road had a goal? Just one big chase. I mean, I liked it, but...

They run this way. They run that way. They are confused. They are afraid.
