Wow. I probably saw this movie well over a hundred times on vhs. In the earlier days of internet I even won a trivia competition where the guy e-mailed me back and pretty much said the questions had been up a while and I was the first to answer them all correctly. I'd just seen the movie so many times by that point and had picked up on even obscure details through watching it nearly every day. Don't even think I ever even got around to watching the blu, but I'd like to see the movie in 4k. As I get older, I'd like to revisit more old favorites again. I've mostly been seeing first time movies the last few years and kind of miss going back to the movies of my childhood.

Going in with very low expectations. Sometimes it helps to expect it will be a huge letdown going in. I remember thinking Dumb and Dumber To was actually pretty funny in the theater, for example, and it's likely a completely forgotten movie by now.

It's best to keep expectations low for the sequel, but at the same time not easy when the original is one of your favorite movies of all time. I am glad to hear that a lot of original (of the alive) cast is back and also Tim Herlihy who also wrote the screenplay for the original co-wrote the sequel with Sandler. Definitely will miss Bob Barker, Richard Kiel and Joe Flaherty, and of course Carl Weathers as Chubbs (even though his character wouldn't return anyways after the events of the first movie).

I actually own it, but have yet to watch it, lol. I think it was about that time I started losing interest in Jim Carey so it’s probably why I never got around to it.

He just had that magic back then and was a youth icon. Going back and seeing his HBO live concert from the 90s is a good snapshot of that era. It was such a rowdy crowd with people tossing beach balls around and just having a great time. It didn't look like anyone over mid 20s or so. His target audience now is likely much older for anything outside of his family films.
