Just finished watching the 4K. Absolutely stunning transfer and audio. Vinegar Syndrome doing the Lord's work on this stunningly cheesy yet fun as heck action flick. I was grinning like an idiot throughout. If only True Lies would look like this....

LOUD! Almost every peak is square-waved.

I'd recommend muxing the BD audio to the UHD if one has the capability.

I echo your thoughts on the transfer and audio. I watched this last night and thoroughly enjoyed. Great action right out of the gate with awesome music to boot. I read that Russell Crowe had a blast doing this movie because he had free reign to do what he wanted, and it shows. It's no Gone with the Wind, but it's still an entertaining cheese fest that never left me bored.

Holy shit, they went the opposite direction that Arrow did with Demo Man(The cousin of this movie for me). No muted colors here.

I skipped the VS exclusive and ordered the standard. At nearly $50 it seemed a bit excessive. I know that other sites are carrying the deluxe edition but, honestly, for nearly half the cost at Import CDs, I can do without a booklet on the film and the slipcase. I love Crowe in the film and Washington does a fine job. The film is a fun and entertaining flick.

He checked the scenery appropriately as the bad ‘guy’. He projects the insanity of the character and the freedom of being ‘real’.

Most disappointing aspect about watching this movie back again, is that in the future UFC fans did not start chanting “PA-POW” while fanfare was playing over the PA.

For a very mocked film of its time, this has surprisingly aged well when it comes to special effects. Whenever Sid is in his virtual room the CG kind of fits the mold of the 1990s PC demo boom. They basically took what they did on Lawnmower man, and toned it down a little using live action for all the virtual world bits. And all the CG is mostly done subtly in a way that Nolan’s Batman films would later do.
