Very tempted. The Atmos goes overdrive in the second half.

Not necessarily. Most Atmos tracks on home video use the default 11 objects. Much like how the LPCM 2.0 track has a different encode, it most likely is just a different encode of the same mix.

The mix is the same. I've added the pic for the BD disk as well to my previous post.

Thank you, it wasn't there when I posted....

So, it's basically a different "rendition" of the same mix...

Good to know!

I can't see any reason not to get the 4K if you don't own either. You get HDR and no doubt an increase in detail.

If you already own the Blu-ray, it may not be so clear-cut. I will soon have both, but the 4K was available for a decent price.

Finally…. I’ve found someone else reporting the same issue. Been driving me mad since I first watched it. I’ve also had to disable DV when watching this. The standard HDR track is fine.

It also occurs on the Sony 800M2 which I have, so that's three players now.

I agree with the review about crowd noise, it’s that last thing I need ATMOS for. I had a similar dislike (and sold) my recent live Tears For Fears ATMOS bluray.

I extracted the Dolby Vision RPU for analysis in XML format, and as I suspected, the issue lies with the framerate.

<Output name="Timeline">
<UniqueID>541c820c-2c8c-4a2f-ad1c-aa05fc1faa7f</UniqueID>
<NumberVideoTracks>1</NumberVideoTracks>
<NumberAudioTracks>0</NumberAudioTracks>
<CanvasAspectRatio>1.7777778</CanvasAspectRatio>
<ImageAspectRatio>1.7777778</ImageAspectRatio>
<Video>
<Track name="V1">
<UniqueID>db11e655-3c8c-4309-b3cd-f0edaf8a6fbd</UniqueID>
<Rate>
<n>24000</n>
<d>1001</d>

</Rate>

To put it simply, the grading was done on a 24 fps timeline, and the Dolby Vision analysis was also carried out at 24 fps, but during the injection of the dynamic metadata, the XML file was converted to 23.976 fps (as is almost always the case, except with certain publishers such as StudioCanal).
However, since this is a concert and the aim was to alter the audio speed as little as possible, the UHD Blu-ray is presented at 24 fps rather than 23.976 fps.

There's no mention of Dolby Vision issues in the review: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Hans-...380739/#Review

Surely they must have picked up on such a glaring issue. It makes you wonder how much effort Blu-ray.com really puts in to genuinely reviewing the disc.

No, this would not be expected here as the site reviews aren’t professional reviews in that vein. The reviewers aren’t really pixel peepers, so to speak. They watch the films, some (but not all) reviewers analyze special features and that’s about it.

I'm not sure that's the case at all, as the reviews here often give the impression that there has been some fairly in-depth analysis of the picture - there's references to shadow detail, grain levels, compression issues, grittiness, detail levels etc. etc.

The only reason I can think of why they didn't pick up on the issue is that they didn't watch it in Dolby Vision at all.

So, what's the final say on the Atmos mix for 4K vs. Blu-ray? I'm running what most would consider a beyond extreme audio system so I'm more interested in the possible gains of this new mix over HDR, Vision, etc.

I believe the verdict is zero difference between the two
