This is getting a BD release in August containing the the following extras ALL made by Simon Sheridan:

1) Commentary
2) Booklet
3) Three new documentaries

Not sure if the "The Ups and Downs of a Filmmaker" interview & the unaired pilot "Go Girl" that were on the DVD are being included or wether we need to keep the DVD for those.

I wouldn't call this "Britain's most notorious exploitation movie" as that would surely be Derek Ford's 1975 film Sex Express (aka Diversions).

The answer to my question from Simon is below & it looks like we might need to keep the DVDs for the extras as it doesn't look like any have been ported over:

There's Go Girl, an audio commentary from Ken and I, plus 3 beautiful brand new documentaries made by me. I've not included any old extras. This is all fresh material!

The inclusion of Go Girl and a new commentary/documentary will surely render the old extras redundant though? Probably just cover the same ground, I imagine. Whatever, this is fab news!

Is the UK version of Death Rides a Horse as good as the Kino Lorber release?

Simon Sheridan said thst his documentary Saucy - was getting a physical release so I thought it would be part of a box set. Strange it’s not included with one of these. Wonder if there’s more to come? Hipeyllu these two releases show there’s a market for this genre

Think there's still another boxset to come which is what the documentary is likely to be included in.

I also recall Simon mentioning that his Keeping the British End Up book was being re-released (presumably updated as well) in December last year but I've NOT seen any news about it otherwise I'd have bought it by now.

PQ wise i don't know but I'm assuming it is the same updated (The framing of the final eight minutes of the film has been corrected here compared to the previous HD master so any pre-Kino (2017) release of the film has The framing of the last eight minutes remains at 2.35:1 but is severely cropped and zoomed in from the intended framing) HD master & the difference is that it has bugger all in the extras department considering the Kino release has an Audio Commentary by filmmaker Alex Cox in addition to the trailer.

Extras wise the German Koch Media (2022) release has the most extras (302 mins worth) & although it is English friendly, at least film wise (both english audio & English subs, the latter presumably for the Italian Audio) I'm not sure if ALL the extras are English friendly or not:

Quote:
Audio Commentary by filmmaker Alex Cox
Audio Commentary by Lee Van Cleef Biographer Mike Malloy
"Death Rides with Petroni" featurette (14:41)
"Vengeance Rides a Horse" interview with director Giulio Petroni and assistant director Enrique Berger (35:45)
Audio Interview with actor John Phillip Law (13:33)
German Credits (2:46)
Gallery (97 stills)
English Trailer (1:33)

Any idea what films are likely to be included in that box set?

Yes he did say he was republishing his book (I’m friendly with him on Twitter) and I can’t wait. In actually have the last edition and it’s one of the best books on films full stop. Well written with lots of great photos. Hard to see how he can better it so that will be an instant purchase from me. Do you have the old one?

Sex with the Stars (1981) rated by BBFC for Screenbound Pictures.

(they incorrectly label it as Sex with the Start)

He's one of my followers. Nope I ONLY ever recall reading the previous release in Waterstones years ago & usually re-releases/re-prints of these sorts of books are usually updated with corrections/new stuff added etc.

My book is the expanded 2nd edition- a lot bigger than the first. It really is the bible of saucy films. Will be fascinated to see how he can improve on it

I had heard a rumour Groupie Girl was going to be included but not sure how accurate thst is now

Just looked up Simon Sheridan on IMDB and he was listed a Stanley Long documentary as his next film released in November. So could be a Stanley Long box set….

Just got an email from Screenbound confirming they're releasing Take An Easy Ride. Was just thinking about this sleazy "gem" the other day.

"Finally coming soon to Blu-ray for the first time is the 1976 cult classic Take an Easy Ride, directed by Kenneth F. Rowles. Featuring a host of new extras."

I have this DVD:
https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/Take-an-...de-DVD/180779/

EDIT: How did I miss this news above?! Anyway, the release date is 22nd September.

https://screenbounddirect.co.uk/prod...-ride-blu-ray/

Extras
  • Go Girl
  • No Easy Rides – Ken Rowles’ life in Filmmaking
  • Go Françoise! – Interview with Françoise Pascal
  • Hitching a Ride with Ken Rowles
  • Audio commentary by Ken Rowles and Simon Sheridan, best-selling author of Keeping the British End Up’

If it was a Stanley A Long set then there are 7 films (The Adventures of a... films x4 & Bread already taken care of by Indicator & BFI respectively), he directed, left to play with albeit 2 of them are shorts.

Presumably his documentary from C4 would also be included as well
