I saw the video of what's potentially the new master on their site and it definitely looks different from the old BD...but I hope it isn't the final master cause I saw quite a bit of film damage in the clip.

So I have what's potentially wonderful news, though it hasn't been directly confirmed yet. I have access to the old DVD release's stereo mix (which is the original) and I checked it side by side with the BD audio and the sample clip that Criterion shared on their website. The sample clip sounds identical to how the old DVD stereo mix was mixed, meaning that they are potentially including the OG mix. The BD for that same scene was mixed a lot differently and actually added sound effects not originally there.

This should look wonderful on my iPhone... just kidding. Really great news from Criterion.

I love Tangerine Dreams score and the minimal dialogue in the film. The looks on the actors faces say it all just like in another Walon Green story The Wild Bunch. Hopefully that film will also be coming soon from Criterion. Both should look great on my 133" screen.

I've got a funny feeling that Second Sight will bring this out in the U.K. Just hope they match the same bonus features as Criterion. If not, looks like I'm ordering from the U.S. Great to see Brazil in that line up as well.

Sorcerer is a Studio Canal title in Europe - it is in the UK (I think)

If the gunshot/"jeep backfiring" at the end is missing it'll be the original mix. If it's there then, unfortunately, it'll be a downmix of the newer one.

The digipak design is a bummer, but as long as it has plastic disc hubs, as opposed to the guaranteed 4K disc wreakers that are sleeve-based storage, I'm still psyched.

I'm well aware of that, but Criterion didn't post that clip so I had to work from what they shared already

It was more like people didn't know what the original look was, since both cinematographers are dead, and they didn't like the idea of Friedkin supervising the master without assistance from one of them. But the final master thankfully turned out to not be so bad.

It was eOne/Lionsgate in the UK. I don’t know if they still have their rights in the UK. I don’t know if Warner still has North American video rights, I’ve read somewhere off this forum that it was speculated to have gone back to Universal.
