It's weird because I see that they've been shipping all three of these titles out for other folks' orders, and even re-listed them as in-stock new releases already on their website. I had preordered them all pretty early. Weird. Atomic has really been slaying Orbit in terms of my order fulfilments, and I've switched all my new preorders to Atomic.
That’s weird. Did you email Orbit to see what was going on? In terms of shipping speed I used to find them the same.

I mainly use Atomic now though!

Yes I did. It seems like every other week I'm emailing them asking on the status of things that they've already been shipping out, while my preorders of the same items sit. Was never like that before. I never like bothering vendors. It's one of the main reasons I switched to Atomic.

Thanks for the heads up then! I’ll stick to Atomic!

Atomic is the best! They haven't let me down yet and I go through them for basically everything.

I agree that the movie was very intense and well put together for what it was, but agree also with user gates. The movie was lacking beyond 'here's an intense battle'.
It was an interesting take to
[Show spoiler]have the entire movie essentially just one battle
but really made it less enjoyable overall. Even though it was based on a real event, it felt like the people didn't matter, which also meant it didn't matter which ones got hurt or died.

I'm surprised it got so much praise from audiences as well as critics.

I agree. I enjoyed Civil War immensely...so, naturally, I was expecting something similar when I saw Warfare. With Warfare, I was expecting a strong focus on soldiers rather than on journalists and photographers. Warfare suffers because it's too focused on the details of combat. Also, I did not see Warfare as one battle...but one blunder. I mean NO DISRESPECT to the real-life soldiers who participated in this event, but I felt like they failed. They were attacked, outnumbered, surrounded, and had to fight their way out of the mess. Apollo 13 is similar. The movie highlights a successful failure. That phrase -- "successful failure" -- seems fitting here.

Still, I'm anxious to visit this at home and on 4K.

Blind bought this one. Fairly confident it’s gonna be something I’ll appreciate and enjoy based on everything I’ve read.

The singular focus of the movie and the fact that it doesn't glorify/gloss over the harsh realities of combat are what I enjoyed about this movie, along with the stellar A/V presentation. Considering that one of the soldiers co-wrote and co-directed, I'm especially impressed that he showed the mistakes made, including from his own character.

Mine arrived today from A24, can't wait to see how this looks and sounds at home!

I made mention that F1 was the loudest film I've seen in IMAX so far -- Warfare would be my #2 film in terms of IMAX loudness.

Firing this up tomorrow on 4K when it arrives.

Received mine from A24 over the weekend on Saturday surprisingly.

The Atmos track is hands down one of the finest I've heard, shockingly realistic and immersive. Even someone with a modest Atmos setup like me was shocked at the sound design and placement. It and F1 are strong contenders in the Best Sound Oscar category.

Picture quality is about what I expected, a very solid DV offering that handles the dust and surreal combat scenes effectively.

This is a hard one to want to watch in full again. I was in Iraq at the same time this takes place on 2006 (and again in 2009), and it captures the sight and sound of claustrophobic settings effectively, and it's the most realistic war film of the last 30 years. For once, it's a war film set in the desert where everything isn't awash in yellow colors or blown out in brightness.

Yep those two are running neck and neck for best sound I've experienced in a theater this year.

I watched this last night. The Atmos track was just as impactful as I remembered from the theater, but I found the video to be a little disappointing. They reframed this at 2.00:1 for the home release, and I felt it was more immersive at 1.85:1. I also noticed quite a bit of black crush in the interior scenes. I remembered some of that from the theater, but it seemed worse here. It could just be a limitation of my projector, but I don't generally have this complaint. I'm planning to also watch it on my 75" Sony X90L to see if there is much difference.

2.00:1 is the film’s original aspect ratio. Actions like you described (reframing) are very unusual, particularly when it comes to new releases. Theatrically, they surely had a vast number of different DCPs to reflect the different ARs, sound systems etc.

Watched this today.

I was hoping I was going to love it but ended up just liking it. Very intense, but I guess I like a war movie with a little more plot to it. I’m sure that was not their intent though. Just probably doesn’t have enough replay value for me to keep it.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for our troops, and when I watch a film like this it always makes me appreciate them that much more. I’m glad this film was made and glad I saw it. I don’t have military experience, but I assume this is one of the more realistic war movies out there. It was very well-shot / made.

PQ and AQ were fantastic!

Ok thanks for the correction. I guess this is just one of those movies that really benefits from being seen on the biggest screen possible. It’s a shame that not many people went to see it. My expectations for the home release were probably too high, I’ll give it another watch soon.
