Sean’s a good guy. Had him on my podcast a few years back and (since I live in Baltimore) we had plans to go to DC to finish his Horrors Hallow Grounds episode of “The Exorcist” when he was in town for a convention…but he ended up not making the trip and he finished it another time.

I listened to that podcast interview with Don May, and he says MGM still had the elements for Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II (I’m positive their 2008 DVD was from a 2K scan of the negative), but 3-4 were still MIA at that time. Hopefully they’re able to find those. Prom Night III: The Last Kiss looks extremely rough on DVD. I have the Via Vision collection, and it feels like I’m watching an ancient VHS tape.

I’m from Richmond VA, and I suggested he go there to do an episode on Cherry Falls (the only horror movie filmed there aside from Cry_Wolf), and he seemed receptive to the idea.

Yea Prom Night 3 looked awful on that old Artisan DVD. Not to mention it was edited to hell and back.

You would think the elements for all the Prom Night films would be under the same umbrella (or at least within reach) since all 4 were produced by the same outfit IIRC, but it appears they're all over the place. MGM has the materials for II, has Don ever mentioned what he used for his Blu-ray? Artisan released III and IV on DVD from what looked like VHS masters so there's no mystery there. Fingers crossed they find the elements. I'd still like some sort of upgrade for III and IV even if the source is less than ideal.

But yeah, the OCN for Curtains wasn't used for the BD either as the specs said "original vault materials" (didn't look like it came from the OCN either) whereas the Prom Night BD specifically mentioned the OCN.

They said at the time:
CURTAINS was a mix of both the negative and an IP for the 2K scan they did for the Blu-ray. It was mostly IP, but the negative was sourced for some sections.

I'm hoping the master for this turns out just as good as Trick or Treat did

Thankfully uncut on the Australian Via Vision disc, which puzzles me why the Artisan disc used the TV cut.
