I would imagine, because they want to see the double feature in IMAX.

Because there's a huge difference between completely sold out and virtually (and other descriptors go here) sold out.*

*See Princess Bride, "mostly dead/all dead"

Having been in that situation, even for IMAX, the seat options may not be great for those last tickets, but the difference for not bothering is seeing it, or not. And for special events like this, it's worth the effort, in my opinion.

Well, it appears to be sold out at movies unlimited. I wonder how long it lasted..

Edit: weird, it wouldn’t let me add to cart at first is why I thought it was sold out. I was able to place an order finally.

Wondering that myself with MU as I see no option to cancel. Probably helps if you didn’t check out as a guest like me.

They have an email form to cancel on the site that you fill out and you type in your order number. I’ve only ever checked out as a guest and they cancelled a Superman order for me recently after I found it cheaper with Deep Discount, got the confirmation from them a few hours later. Now I’ve reversed the process with TRON where I had to use the email form to cancel with Deep Discount, still waiting to hear back from them.

Ended up calling DeepDiscount directly and got my order with them cancelled. Had to wait on hold for a few minutes but not too bad and they sent a confirmation email as well.

Also got a direct response from the owner of HD Movie Source about cancelling and refunding my absurd $150 order I had placed with them Charge on my card from them is already being reversed so that’s a relief.

So that should just leave my MoviesUnlimited order for just $70. Couldn’t be more thrilled! I’ve never had a problem with them so far, and they seem to be limiting their orders as both are now out of stock officially there so I’m not too worried about them neglecting to fulfill my order.

You'll be fine. They always raise their prices shortly after the item goes live. It's just never happened quite that fast before. Usually it's 24 hours-ish give or take.
