My fav director is not in that list (Luis Buñuel). Actually none of my top 10 are there.
Buñuel Kieslowski Bergman Eisenstein Kurosawa Kubrick Chaplin Fellini Hitchcock Tarkovsky Plus: Jodorowsky Miyazaki Truffaut Alfonso Cuarón Godard Yimou Zhang Guillermo del Toro Werner Herzog González Iñárritu Carlos Reygadas Tarantino David Lean Ang Lee Tim Burton Pasolini From that list I've picked Guillermo del Toro (Guillermo not Quillermo) ![]() PS: I can't believe Michael Bay has already 2 votes! ![]() ![]() Last edited by Octavio; 05-23-2008 at 02:49 PM. |

Hmm... I guess I would choose Quentin Tarantino for over all since everything he has done so far I've loved. But... Lock Stock, Snatch, Revolver, And Rocknrolla, are some of my all time favorite movies. So Guy Ritchie is probably my favorite if only counting his "gangster series".

There is no possible way I could choose only one favorite director.
Here's my favs though: Martin Scorsese - nothing more needs to be said. Steven Spielberg - Jaws, ET, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan. Nuff said! James Cameron - he's the king of the world. make True Lies 2 with Arnie! Peter Jackson - Made the best movie trilogy there is...IMO. Ridley Scott - hit and miss for me, but when he hits he REALLY hits. Tony Scott - does he even make movies that don't star Denzel Washington? Michael Bay - best action director...ever. Judd Apatow - best comedy director...ever. Frank Darbont - Shawshank and Green Mile, can't top those. Michael Mann - Heat, Collateral, Miami Vice, The Insider... yeah he's good. Spielberg. Everybody else is gunning for 2nd.
Duel, Jaws, Close Encounters, Raiders, ET, Poltergeist, Goonies (writer producer), Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Hook, Amistad, Pvt Ryan, Minority Report, War of the Worlds, Munich. The guy is insanely talented. Founded some company called Dreamworks? Cameron. Aliens, Terminator (T2), The Abyss, True Lies, Titanic, Avatar. The man is right up there with great minds. Scott. Alien, Blade Runner, Legend, Thelma and Louise, GI Jane, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Kingdon of Heaven, Body of Lies, American Gangster, Robin Hood. In fact, I think Scott is tied at #2 for me. Del Toro. Mimic, Cronos, Blade II, Hellboy series, Pan's Labyrinth. He is the fast riser right now. With Dont be afraid of the Dark and Haunted Mansion on the horizon, lookout. Nolan. A up and commer like Del Toro, everything he touches turns to gold. Batman Begins/ Dark Knight, Insomnia, The Prestige, Inception. Brilliant. Raimi. One of my favs. Love his work. Evil Dead series, Darkman, Quick and Dead, A Simple Plan, Spiderman series, Drag Me to Hell. Romero. The Godfather of Horror. Love this mans work. Dead series, Silence of the Lambs, Creepshow, The Crazies. Mention; Tarantino, Scorsese, Coen Bros and Peter Jackson. All have great stuff. I'm not into alot their films but, the ones I like are sublime. |
