For those of you who despise the packaging for Bonnie & Clyde as I do, please take a few moments out of your Blu-ray.com posting to shoot a quick note over to the folks at Warner Bros. expressing your unhappiness with this "coffee table book" idea. Personally, I will not be buying any of them. I want the option of buying my Blu-rays in a standard keepcase. It took years to kill the snappers with DVD. Lets hope we can kill this abomination early. Add me to the list of people who have already unloaded their copy on eBay. I will be buying the UK import as soon as I can verify that it is region free and stored in a keepcase (the perfected way of packaging high definition media that also boasts nice literature clips to hold those dandy booklets inside). It is scheduled for release in the UK on May 5th.
![]() And hey turboedguy, it is definitely cool. The more people we can dissuade from purchasing this the better. That pic only tells part of the story. The packaging is really not well thought out. It doesn't adequately protect the disc and is very susceptible to damage. I really was looking forward to picking up this title. It looks like Amazon has already bumped the price up on on the UK version. Sendit.com is a bit less expensive. ![]() Damn, why couldn't they have just left well enough alone? It's so sad that almost an entire thread on Bonnie and Clyde is dedicated to bashing the casing for it -- I don't mean that in a negative way, either. It's just a shame it's so bad that there's such a furor over it. I'm one of the idiots I guess who really doesn't care what packaging it's in (for any movie), I just wanted the movie, but I do understand those who do care and their opinions. And that's cool...
I think if I did care I'd be ordering a set of cases from sleevetown (since they're so cheap) and printing off covers for them. It would be a pretty cheap alternative and then you wouldn't have to wait so long to get a copy in a case you like (which may or may not come unless you import). Just a thought. ![]() |

I have been collecting packaged media for a number of years. The digipaks and snappers were very susceptible to damage. The teeth on the spindles can break and render the package incapable of securing the disc. The cardboard gets worn, the edges get dog-eared and the images fade. The worst part of these "coffee table books" is that there is nothing to enclose the book. If the spindle breaks, there is only one place for your disc to go… the floor. The standard Blu-ray keepcase is the perfected way of storing and protecting high definition media and the inserts. The best part is that they are also easily replaceable should they become damaged. All I did was voice an alternative for others in cases (no pun intended ![]() Mainly my point was that it was a shame that a thread about such a fantastic movie is only about the casing, since most everyone is upset about it. And it is a shame...but I thought I did a good enough job of saying I understood why it was. Maybe not... It's too bad we're not discussing the greatness of the movie, but I completely understand why we are, and I agree, even though the casing doesn't matter to me, per se, standard is always best because that's what the majority is going to want. Just for clarity, I am NOT saying that I don't understand the complaints about the packaging, or that it's foolish or silly or any other thing to be complaining about the packaging for the BD. In all honesty, given a preference I would take the standard case as well. I understand the complaints. I think it's a shame that an entire thread on the movie is basically become all about how terrible the casing is, but I understand why it has. That's all I was saying. The other about buying cases and printing off the covers was mainly just for people who might have already bought the disk, hated the casing and were looking for an alternative, or anyone who might consider using that to avoid having to import it or wait. Nothing in my response says not to contact the studio or complain about it. So please don't take my response/suggestion as anything but what it is. I don't want to anger people because someone is reading too much, or too little, into what I'm saying... Last edited by DutchBoy; 03-28-2008 at 03:46 PM. |

Is there a downloadable Bonnie & Clyde insert for a regular Blu-ray case available anywhere? It seems that would be a simple thing for Warner to do to pacify (somewhat) those of us who don't care for the "coffee table book" packaging?

The picture quality was overall good, although right at the very beginning it seemed slightly out of focus. The extras are nice, esp. including the documentary. Of course the movie itself is very good, as film buffs already know.

I just got this disc. Personally, I really like the book format packaging.
However, why is it backwards? It seems as though someone had decided beforehand to go with the standard disc in the back, book in the front format. As a result, you open it up looking at the back page. Flipping to the front is a pain unless you fold it back and crease it which, obviously, I'd rather not do. If you flip the thing over so that the disc sits in the front, you can see how easy it is to flip through the book if it were on the right side. I'm sure someone gets paid a lot of money to design the packaging formats. This particular someone should be fired. |

Yeah, it says on the menu that the sound for these scenes could not be found. They did put subtitles in from the script though so at least you know what they're saying.

Ok, thanks. For some reason I have trouble reading most of my menus, must be from trying to display hd material on a sd crt tv.
