What a lot of arguments.. There are actually a few benefits to a stand-alone player. I run a high-end audio-video store and we have sold lots of them. They integrate into a system better.. they have more output options.. they have a drawer instead of that funky feeder in the PS3. The biggest practical drawback is of course, that they take FOREVER to load. That said, the PS3 has a really loud fan that is pretty annoying during a movie. Once the BD-550 comes out, stand-alones might have the edge all around. We'll see.
Personally, I own a PS3, with ONE game and about 100 BDs. One of those is The Untouchables, which I enjoyed thoroughly last night on the PS3 (it's one of my favorite films.) There ya go, David. |
