In order to save money, I get a lot of BDs via Netflix. I watch before I buy.

on a side note: there used to be a place called Video Knights that had a deal on VHS rentals. 5 movies for 5 nights for $5. Due to not seeing too many movies growing up I would rent 10-15 movies a week in this joint!

I think it was '99 when they started changing their late fee policies to confuse people even more, at least at my store anyway. Yikes at working a busy shift by yourself. We usually had at least one assistant manager and one CSR during busy shifts, but I can easily see them going down to one person. They kept cutting people's hours when I was there.

I watch most new movies as rentals.

Most of my purchases are older titles I regard as classics or at least worth repeat viewings.

I rarely buy a new release on the first day unless I've seen it in the theater, which is very rare. Most movies these days aren't worth $14 plus gas. If I see a new movie as a rental that I really like, then I might spring for it when the price comes down far enough.

Not very often, I often find it cheaper to buy if you count not only the price for the rental but also the extra charges for late returns. And if you buy you don't need to bother about returning them.

I don't want to own any movie I don't like enough to re-watch several times and how would I know whether I like a movie before I've seen it.

Renting via mail works out cheap and there are no late fees. I don't think here in the UK we still even have physical rental stores.

Since he didn't seem to know about no late fees, maybe he was a time traveler from the original thread date in 2008.

I do rent, not as often as in the past as it is increasingly hard unless you want dvd's (or want to pay what the blu-ray will be available for in but a few months).

Tell that to the two red envelopes that have been sitting untouched on my desk for the past two weeks

To be honest, I have never rented one. I just always seemed to rent the dvds at Blockbuster usually because they had so few blu-rays. Now, I don't rent - i have netflix.
